I won't be the first to say it is like stepping back in time when dining at Jimmy's but that's the appeal and you find dishes on the menu that you really haven't seen anywhere else in years. Jimmy's somehow retains its old style charm - staff are friendly without being overly attentive and the food choices are amazing in... More

We were in Jimmy's recently for a Murder Mystery Evening and it was simply divine. The best possible venue that could have been selected. As an eating establishment, it was almost redolent of the 1920s in which the do it yourself theatrical Murder piece, "The Grapes of Frath"was set. Rich russet and burgundy hues and wood -paneling! All very warm... More

An old style restaurant, which has been around for decades. I had meals at its premises in Central. The decor resembled that of the 1980s. The furnishings however look like new and the place looks elegant and comfortable. The service is also attentive. For food, if you prefer old style western classics, you have come to the right place. But,... More

I love visiting Jimmys kitchen every time I visit Hong Kong. Operating since the early 1930's with a focus of world Cha Orem English staples, this restaurant has that old world charm of HK under British rule. Old fashioned meals, exceptional tastes and flavours and friendly staff make this a favourite. When you visit you see the business leaders and... More

I went here as it was one of few places I found on the internet being recommended for Sunday roast. What a disappointment! The food was poor, the service was bad and the serving staff didn't even know what was in the starter they served - turns out both of the starters they offer with Sunday lunch have cheese in... An old name of fine dining in HK for almost 90 years. We went to the one in Central because the one in TST is being relocated. The restaurant setting and decoration is beautiful, with a cosy and comfortable bar, ideal for a pre or after dinner drink. Daily specials through out the week with the best menu item on... More

My wife and I visit Hong Kong from the UK on a regular basis to visit our daughter and family who live there. We always go to Jimmy's Kitchen Central on our final night for a special meal and It never disappoints. Great food, attentive staff, lovely atmosphere and so relaxing.

Jimmy's Kitchen in Hong Kong is one of the longest established eateries. When you walk in you forget you are in Hong Kong and it feels like walking in to a slightly dated traditional English Gentleman's Club. The tablecloths are kept crisp as they are steam ironed whilst on the tables. Their extensive menu (all 17 pages of it) ensures... More

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
