The tarts were nothing special and the pastry wasn't that crumbly and the filling was not nice. Really disappointed as I had heard such good things about their egg tarts.

I'm not sure I'd recommend this as a destination by itself, but it is an easy side-trip from the escalator on the way to Man Mo Temple. Egg custard was delicious, reminiscent of childhood treats in England and not something I find in the U.S.

Little bites of buttery goodness and fresh from the oven. Definitely worth the short walk from IFC mall - a definite must!

They were fresh out of the oven but I think expansion has ruined the taste. Pastry was flat and filling wasn't authentic. Like it has been made in a central kitchen somewhere and delivered to shop. I rarely give anything a poor review but this gets my thumbs down. Won't be back in a hurry. If you need a baseline... More

The best egg tarts I had in my life! You can go in expecting to have just one, but I bet you won't have just one. It's sooo good!

We had expected a local cha chan teng and it turns out to be a bakery. Ordered their tarts and they were nice and warm. The crust was nice, different from Honolulu's which was flaky. Nice to try if you are around the area but not a detour.

Love the egg tarts here. Best eaten fresh and you will need more than one! So good I had them twice in 3 days.

A famous egg tart shop and that means you need to queue. Even though the queue is quite a long one, it doesn't really take too long until I got hold of the yummy egg tarts. If you like your crust crispy; more like biscuit type, you will love this. Even though I am one of those people who prefer... More

Tai Cheong Bakery is a fantastic place to get egg tarts. There only $8HKD each, and they taste absolutely delicious! It's a buttery pastry with sweet, quite eggy custard in the middle. I love each time I go, and they are JUST SO YUMMY AND YOU MUST TRY THEM! Also, the employees have good English and you can simply point... More

We stumbled on this place by accident and saw such a queue we decided to try the egg tart! Amazing! You must try one! Not too sweet but not too savory. Ours was warm! If you in soho- make an effort to stop here!

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
