Fantastic melt in your mouth sushi! I don't agree with the other reviewers on here at all. The sushi was incredible. The fish tasted very fresh and the tuna sashimi was "better than Nobu" according to my girlfriend.

It's been a while since I was here last time and nothing has changed. The food is still fantastic, Izakaya style selection of cooked and raw foods, the service is great and the atmosphere good. Highly recommend the tomato salad with sesame dressing, yummy! The fish is always fresh and all dishes are created with lots of care! Highly recommended!

Yet another example that the English know nothing about food because only an English reviewer from the 'Lonely Planet' could possibly recommend this place as 'TopTip'. The food is not fresh, the sushi rolls look like nothing and the decoration is shabby. Also overpriced.

I visited this restaurant twice so far for small group dinner gatherings with friends. During both visits I noticed majority of the customers are Japanese; I guess this place offers something authentic to them - the atmosphere and food. There isn't much real interior decor or design... Just like a family style Japanese restaurant- cozy and down to earth. The... More

Usually busy in the evenings, and expect a quiet evening! Tables are packed together and service can be very slow at times. Come a bit later and expect to wait for about 20mins before your first dish comes.

Very good Jap grilled meats - bit a lot more expensive that the Korean equivalents (eg Myung Ga / Gaya)

Good Japanese restaurant - but it's expensive! Best to go in a decently-sized group so as to sample more of the huge menu. Excellent cooking, good service.

Irori has a sushi counter as well as table seating. Has good sake. Not cheap but is of a good standard.

If you're not in the mood the splurge for Nobu and the likes of Nobu, and if you don't want to stoop to eating suspect conveyor belt cheap cheap sushi, then do yourself a favor and head to Irori. I went there with three friends tonight. The four of us spent HK1,600 total, and we feasted. Our dinner consisted of:... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
