I’ve always liked this bar. Great vibe, good decor (grungy but cool) and last night we had very good food too. If you are looking for somewhere chilled and unpretentious (hard to find around Orchard) where you can hang with friends, then this is a good place to visit.

Lovely theme bar with affordable 1 for 1 martini that tasted great. Love the music and the ambience. Good selection of finger food. Certain Martini creation are quite unique and Creative. However, customer service could improve better. As I’ve been to the bar several time and I felt the service staff can be quite rude at times.

It is located in a corner lined with restaurants in an old building in Singapore. There's a lot of music inside, and it doesn't feel like a calm bar, but it's good enough for an after-dinner drink during a sightseeing trip. The interior is decorated in very calm hues, opposite the music, and the lighting. There was also a space for people to take off their shoes and go up, similar to the koagari in Japan, and there was a lot of excitement at some girls’ gatherings.

Went there for drinks on a Weekday afternoon Upper level had 1 patron. Whilst waiting for our food to arrive myself and a friend took some photos. Was told curtly by ALICE a older woman server that 'we charge $250 for photos. Please pay or stop taking them' Taken aback, we stopped. When I asked her again she said this is for wedding shoots. I was in jeans and a t shirt Alice is either blind or was trying to cheat us of money. Whilst the Ambience is acceptable - there are many more bars out there that have the same food without the terrible cheating waitresses. Without your patrons taking photos and sharing on social media, who would know about your bar? Sure spend a few thousand to market yourself. Only to have your waitress step on your customers toes - BEFORE they even have a meal

Similar to the few previous reviews posted about this place, the one thing that stood out here was how rude and unfriendly the service staff were. The waitresses behaved like they were not paid their salary on time. Their faces were sully all the time. The only thing they care about was to keep chasing for payment - seconds after the drinks were placed on our table, they will shove the bill in your face and keep asking do you want to open a tab (leave your credit card with them) or settle the bill NOW? The martini drinks were pretty decent and I like the bar snacks too. So it's really a shame that the service staff are so unfriendly and rude. For the kind of prices they are charging, I will rather spend my money at other establishments where I feel more welcomed and relaxed.

We decided to go for their happy hour. Well that appeared to be non-existent along with some pretty ridiculous rules. We decided to have 2 cocktails for $28++. There is a good list of cocktails however for the same price you cannot have 2 different cocktails from the same list. My friend wanted strawberry, I wanted blueberry but no we had to have 2 strawberry and 2 blueberry. Both the same price but couldn't have one of each then they bring all 4 out at once. So you have to drink one fast so they other one is still cold and not all melted from the crushed ice. Also as its a new world being COVID-19 we get masks and so on is upmost important but the delviery of all the staff when asking you to wear a mask and check out it is dreadful. Literally just finished my drink and stood up and she barked one word "mask". I was just standing and was about to have a slice of pizza. We decided to pay the bill and get out of their quick then when leaving no "thank you for coming please don't forget to check out" just a straight up rudely spoken "you must check out". Learn on your delivery people. No wonder your bar was relatively quiet while others were buzzing. Left and went to KPO, environment, staff attitude and drinks were far better there. Doubt I will return to No 5 Emerald unless the attitude of the staff was to change.

Used to visit often and even bringing overseas guests here. Service staff named A is exceptionally good, friendly and sincere although they are always busy. Noticed some difference in service standards when A is not around. A handful are still friendly but probably too busy or are stationed elsewhere. However, the last straw was on my last visit. Although I was assured a table during reservation, I was told by a waiter on the spot that it had changed to the platform cushion seats and that I needed to wait if I wanted a change. While waiting for a good 30 mins, no one came to take my orders, no food or drinks as if I’m being punished. Finally got my table upstairs at a corner far back, but the same waiter had walked off before I placed my orders. More waiting before I managed to signal another staff over. Just felt totally unwelcome in a familiar place. Seems like you’re trying hard to chase your customers away. Will consider visiting again only if A is around.

In these heightened alert times, when we cannot go to No.5 for drinks, I decided to invite my usual drinking buddy to my place and order for delivery. The whole ordering and payment process went smoothly and a veritable feast was delivered to my home. Including the extra chilli that we like! The food did arrive a little later than originally arranged, but they were thoughtful enough to warn me that there was a little delay - nice touch! And the food tasted just like it does when we're at the bar - delicious!

I love this place. My ideal spot is either upstairs or in the alfresco. The best and unique thing about the place is their peanut offerings which you can eat and at the same time throw away their covers on the floor(what an amusing thing). Though it makes a mess out of the place, they still allow it 🥰. As for the food I love their mutton samosas, too good (do try). And not to forget about their extensive martinis 🍸 (1-1 during happy hours which is most of the time). If you are adventurous enough, can try out the WaterFall too. Recommended, and do get a reservation before going in.

I'm there for the post war colonial ambience. The smell of rustic wood sets my mind back to 80s Singapore, where customer service was genuine and originated from the sincerity of the soul. But that was not to be when I visited the bar. Cool, stagnated, ' I just wanna get paid and go home' plus ' I'm just here to fill up the spaces' service summarized my whole patronizing experience with No.5. It is regrettable as it has lots of history to sell and especially during CoVid season where most outlets are shutting down and they still don't put an edge to their service. In a nutshell; I will only visit it if my business customer insist on having a happy hour beer there, but still then, I would counter propose at least Alley bar, KPO or Ice Cold B before I step in.

Came to No.5 because it was recommended by my friends for their drinks, however the staff's attitude was super rude and totally uncalled for. She literally just instructed her colleague to cancel our reservation when we were still standing in front of her - this shows how unwelcoming this bar is. It's disappointing because I had booked this bar to celebrate a joyous occasion yet this unpleasant service totally ruined our moods. Would never return again as I'd rather go elsewhere with a better customer service.

We visited the bar to have few drinks with my friends. This manager Elise give a negative and rude approach to us. She as well scolded her staff in front of the customers which we think it’s very inappropriate especially being in the customer service. She shouldn’t be in customer service like this if she not happy service customer. Will not come back and won’t recommend to our friends!

Anybody who knows me knows that No. 5 is my favourite bar, so during these circuit breaker weeks I've been missing my usual Friday night. Well they've done their best to come to the rescue with their new food delivery service, and last night we had the wings, samosas, meatballs and a No. 5 Special pizza, overorderwng as usual! Thanks No. 5 - the delivery process worked fine and the food was all delicious. It's nice to know that whilst I can't visit the bar, you can send a little bit of it to me! Cheers.

Terrible experience...service upstairs was terrible and manger was unhelpful after seeking help and providing feedback Only pink haired waitress was helpful and polite. The others need a good lesson in customer service or basic manners

In these times, everyone is feeling anxious and going to your favourite bar helps ease feelings. When the bar stuff treats you rudely by shouting at people it creates a negative environment. I was a customer for years and now i dont think ill be returning.
