Went with the wife for a special dinner. We were welcomed into a cosy corner that is decorated in a contemporary manner but preserving the charm of a conserved duxton rd shophouse. I personally love the wall in the mezzanine area is filled with scenes of old Singapore. Beautiful. This quaint restaurant La Maison Fantien offers French cuisine executed with... More

Scrumptious food. We went with their signature dishes and didn't go wrong. The Cheese souffle was exceptionally good, the gruyere cheese was tart, savoury and creamy. The chicken bresse and shellfish bisque were rich and very satisfying. Overall atmosphere was quiet with pleasant casual service.

La Maison Fatien is close to Chinatown and the Carlton City Hotel. Fot lovers of fine french cuisine, this place should not be missed. The food was superb and the service could not be faulted. We were lucky enough to be able to get a table without pre-booking and were amazed at the quality of the food and the service... More

Came here today to try the set lunch at $34++ for 3 courses. I opted for the scallops for starter, the salmon for main and the cakes for dessert. The starter and dessert were both quite decent whilst the main was just average. Overall quite good value for money. No reservation was required for a table for 2 for Friday... More

The food was excellent, a really good wine selection/reasonably priced wine list. My waitress was wonderful. All in all, a great place to go.

Me and my colleges were in Singapore for a business trip. After a long day of meetings we got so hungry. We were on Duxton Str. and the first place that took our attention was a small cosy french restaurant. We decided to try. And it was a right choice i can tell. The staff was attentive and very friendly.... More

This was my second visit to the restaurant. I love the ambience. Even the restroom! The onion soup was very good, better than the shellfish soup. The duck was a little salty. The foie gras was very good. The creme bulee was surprisingly cold although it was still good. The service was fine. Except that when the order for the... More

We came here with the recommendation of a friend. Service was excellent and food was gastronomic. We were prepared for small portions on big plates, but we were wrong. We definitely had our tummies filled. The steak was delicious and you must try the seafood soup which is poured onto the plate from a teapot! We have already recommended this... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
