If you are a visitor to the south of Chile and want to experience authentic local seafood this is the place to go. A great range of different seafood dishes.

Dined here 16 Nov on local recommendation. Abt 5 blocks back from the waterfront on Av. Del Salvador. Quiet mid week night, mixture of locals and travellers. Served by the famous and funny small, character matron. Cheerful and spacious room, no views. Owner later came by for a chat. Nice. Had a nice flavourful calamari broth with lemon, garlic and... Recommended by local, extensive menu, ( how do they do it?), very popular( we seemed tobe only "foreigners ". Friendly, maybe toofriendly( got a bit worried that my partner was touched , on arm, many times by the " mature, short bubbly, bossy waitress".Piscos came promptly, food great, even though my dish wrong one, didn't matter. Between our lack ofspanish,... More

We ate very good fish here and enjoyed the atmosphere. They were doing a roaring trade with both local and tourist clients.

I've been in great fish and seafood restaurants, but this one is by far the best one ever. It's not a posh place, but will make you dream with the flavors. Just amazed, simple, good staff, great food, better prices. Must come

The best quality /price in seafood. King crab and row sea urchins are a must. The place is simple. The owner is always there, smily and friendly. Same high quality for more than 15 years, when I first visited Chamaca Inn

You have to meet this lady to believe it! A short, very round woman greets most customers as long lost friends. We were strangers but welcomed warmly and could not have eaten better. Amazing choice of all kinds of shellfish and seafood. We chose palta (avocado) with king crab and ceviche to start, followed by crepe stuffed with seafood and... More

Located close to the western edge of town, across the street from the Santa Isabel supermarket, we got the last table in the restaurant for a late afternoon meal (around 2:30pm). Every table--including all the outdoor tables--was full. We watched as more people streamed in asking to be seated. I was excited to try two Chilean seafood items that I... More

The restaurant had a strong local feel with lots of locals enjoying the food - always a good sign. The seafood was excellent - we had merluza (hake) cooked a couple of different ways both were good sized portions. The fish went well with locally grown potatoes and vegetables. And a glass of Chilean chardonnay of course.

If you are looking for fresh sea food, that is just plain sea food, not elaborate plates... This is definitely the place to go to. We went to other restaurants that were much more elegant, and they are great too... But in Chamaca you will find great seafood that is cooked as simple as possible but is well cooked and... More
