Good restaurant, but based on reviews and price I was expecting marvelous out of this world and it was not. Most of it was just a bit better than average. I felt like it was a one-trick pony with the fish or meat on a hot rock deal and not very many alternatives in the menu. The fish was very... More

Friendly efficient service from start to finish. We pre-booked a table by email for a Saturday night and had a prompt acknowledgement confirming our booking. We sat in the window upstairs overlooking the square and church. The sharing platter of meats and cheeses was excellent. We followed this up with the tasty trio of meats on the sizzling volcanic stone.... More

The quality of the food, the service and the ambiance in this restaurant are all excellent. The food itself proudly uses Andean and other Peruvian ingredients, beautifully cooked and presented at the table, often with an alpine twist (the chef is from Switzerland). Standout dish was three meats (alpaca, beef and pork) cooked on volcanic stone. Service is friendly, efficient... More

We sat in the window and had the exact view you see in the picture. I had the trio of fish which was very good and my spouse had the four different meats. They were nicely cooked and presented on a hot slab of slate. Staff were friendly and efficient.

In addition to excellent food and an attentive wait staff, Zig Zag is very comfortable. Even boasts a circular staircase said to have been engineered by Eiffel.

Excellent restaurant. Food delicious, service brilliant. We went as group of 20 which didn't effect either food quality or service. Highly recommended. Thank you staff.

I went to Zig Zag with friends for a weekend dinner, and we were given free pisco sours for choosing to wait half an hour for a table. Service was very prompt and attentive. Friendly staff. Restaurant interior is intimate with great cultural decorations. Menu is diverse, with things like quinoa fettucini noodles on it, and everything we tried was... More

The Alpandina dishes offered by the Zig Zag Restaurant are the result of a creative culinary fusion deeply rooted in the mountains, where the sun endows foodstuffs with energy and balanced components. The dishes most representative of Alpandino gastronomy arise from a marvellous synthesis of unique time-hallowed ingredients from all over Peru, combined with ancient and modern culinary techniques from the Alps and the Andes. One of the results is our great speciality: Volcanic-Stone-Cooked Meats and Fish. This culinary concept was generated specially by the restaurant's proprietor and Chef, Michel Hediger from Switzerland. During the course of many years in Arequipa, Peru, he has developed an original gastronomic proposal which enables one to savour different kinds of food prepared in an exclusive, healthy and very natural style, so that the restaurant's customers might compare and enjoy the country's different flavours. Located in the Historic Centre of Arequipa, opposite the lovely Plaza San Francisco, the Zig Zag Restaurant, with its impressive cast iron staircase designed by the famous French architect Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, is a unique place to enjoy a gastronomic evening with a difference.
