Heard about this place from some friends, it´s a must do when you go to Lima. Loved the Ceviche, regarded as one of the World´s best Ceviche´s. Here you can see the star of the show at work in the kitchen working away on his wok, Javier Wong.

Yes it is not fancy but I wanted real ingredients! So satisfied until I could not eat anymore!!!!! I will pay the price for a chef of his caliber to cook in front of me! Yummy - highly recommended!

This is an iconic restaurant in Lima Peru. It's in an unassuming part of a middle-class neighborhood and has no markings or advertising outside so you have to ask people around where the restaurant is located and everybody will guide you since everyone knows who he is. Chef Wong has been at this location since 1994 and doesn't plan to... More

Nice cebiche, but nothing special. We came following Tony's recommendation but left completely disappointed. The second course was terrible: a stir fried using canned fruits and mushrooms for 25 USD is a disgust to the industry. Besides, it tasted of pure soy sauce. Would encourage critics to find the actual best cebiche because this one is definitely not. PS. Extremely... More

He's a national treasure in Peru. His apron is embroidered "Embajador de Perú" (Ambassador of Peru). His ceviche is legendary. Chef Javier Wong is Chinese by ancestry but his soul is Peruvian. We had the pleasure to have lunch in the modest restaurant located at his home. He presides over a small dining room of about 10 tables at a... More

I do not understand the complains about the look and feel of the place. It's part of the great charm of this place. I absolutely loved it. It really feels like you are in proper local place and not some hip design posh place like thousand others - here it feels almost like you visited your grandad and he made... More

Cheviche was really worth it... premises are not at all adequate. So it really depends what you are looking for. If you want to have great food and assist a showcooking (or showcutting) of a master of ceviche, just go for it. If you think the price (very high for peruvian standards) will get you also a fancy location and... More

Chez Wong is a very strange restaurant in a very strange part of town. A friend recommended the place, said it was the best ceviche she ever had. So we booked a table. We got there and the porter asked if we had reservations, only after we confirmed, we were given entrance. We sat down and the waiter asked if... More

Even Though ceviche has been fixed for centuries, the contemporary wonderful version of ceviche owes much to japanese immigrants during the xix century. Some gourmands say probably native pre columbian fishermen cultures would have eaten the fish raw, and then probably add some of the strongly acidic lime. This is nonsensical as lemon and lime were brought by spanish. Moreover,... More

We came to Chez Wong as we are foodies and wanted to experience great ceviche as per the recommendations on food blogs and Anthony Bourdain's show. It couldn't be overrated than this. First, you get to restaurant and someone unlockes the door for you. There is no one speaking English in the restaurant. I have little bit Spanish so I... More
