This was our first time at The Federal and decided to make reservations on Open Table for our special night. We were pleasantly surprised by the clean, bright dining area and the fact that our special instructions were addressed for a quiet table for two....More

We ate there for the first time on Friday night. We got the impression that we would be waiting a long time for our orders, but that turned out not to be true. The service was quick, knowledgeable and profession. No complaints here. The atmosphere...More

The menu is unique and delicious. Many original choices. The red wine ribs were delicious, as well as the foie gras and the risotto balls. Good selection of cocktails and wine.

Mother never cooked sooooooo good!! We attended for the 3 course sit down brunch at this lovely place. A first time experience. Not much in decorations, just tables and tables of people in the rooms but the food was "EXCELANT!" Thought it was a formal...More

The Federal is absolutely the best restaurant in the Springfield, MA area. The food, presentation and wait staff always make for a special evening. And the risotto balls - amazing! Best to make a reservation and enjoy The Federal!

We were here for a family member's birthday. The bucket of risotto balls were quite good, along with the house salad. Flatbread (Pork Lover's) was acceptable, but many Italian restaurants can do much better and at a considerably lower cost. Cotton candy is an unusual...More

The food is great. a little pricey but well worth it. The cook staff sent us a complimentary appetizer that was on the specials. I've been told that is not uncommon. They also have to go treats for the babysitter or dog. :)

I've eaten here a few times wearing just jeans and a polo or a button down. Dress runs the gamut from suits/ties to casual. Just depends on the party. But you won't be uncomfortable being a little more than casual.

Built by Samuel Converse in 1862, the impressive Greek revival structure at 135 cooper street in Agawam, Massachusetts became home to the Federal Hill Club in 1936. Under the management of its owners, the Moretti family, that establishment remained a premiere restaurant for over fifty years. The Federal’s current owners Michael Presnal and Ralph Santaniello easily integrate the white linen elegance of that bygone era with a fresh and innovative “new American” cuisine that is perfectly prepared and impeccably served. Strong Italian and French influences inspire the contemporary culinary style of chef Presnal in dishes such as his red beet risotto, burnt tangerine glazed cod, and white-chocolate panna cotta. The Federal is dressed up as a special occasion restaurant, but is sociable and affordable enough for every occasion. The restaurant enjoys a dedicated following of appreciative diners from New York to Boston.
