We ate here one evening, and had a red and a green curry plus beer and G & T 105,000 kip. Service was a bit slow but we were not in a hurry and had our drinks. The tonic drowned the gin, so better to ask for it separately and put your own in. Food was OK. Situated opposite an... More

Snack and coffee ok but service was very poor. Two waitresses kept their backs to the customers chatting the whole time and the other three were preening themselves at a table. Customers were ignored even while wanting to pay.

Located at a street corner across the street from the Mekong River. Believe it is only open for lunch. But a pleasant, quiet place to rest during your walking exploration of Luang Prabang. Ordered the cashew nut chicken with steamed rice. The menu is sort of Westernized if that is your thing.

It's cheap and cheerful but the flavours were fantastic - we got a mince chicken dish (might have been a larb?) so rich in basil and lemongrass and other unidentifiable flavours, fresh prawn spring rolls and some cashew nuts roasted in salt and chilli. And all for about USD12 including drinks.

We ate here twice during our stay. Both times it was for a quick lunch snack. Food and beer was well priced. It arrived promptly and tasted good. Great corner spot as well for people watching.

Another of the lovely cafes down along the river in the old part of town. Again, great traditional Lao food (with other options for the less adventurous). Thoroughly recommend pork and basil leaf, chicken and cashew and both red and yellow curry dishes. Good value also. Downside is that the chairs are very hard after sitting for a while, maybe... We visited the resturant once for dinner, it is situated on a corner where you can sit and watch the evening pass by. The resturant was clean and tidy, service was good. It was a little busy as it was New Year. I had a red curry and my wife had pizza, both meals were good and the beer/wine was... More

The Nam Khong Cafe is a simple restaurant with a quiet atmosphere on the corner of Khem Khong road and Ounheun road just across the street from the Mekong River and the backside of the Royal Palace. After four days of average food at tourist-oriented restaurants along the main street (Sisavangvong road) in Luang Prabang, I was extremely happy at... More

We have visited this cafe several times in the last 3 weeks, our favorite meal is the whole roast chicken and Luang Prabang salad, when the chicken is freshly cooked it is real treat if you want a change from the local foods (the local foods are also nice here by the way) Friendly staff and good value for money,... This restaurant is actually on the corner of Khem Khong (the one along the river) and Ounheun Rd (the one beside the Royal Palace/National Museum (with Phusi Guesthouse on it)). We first came across this place for a snack and a drink. The fried vege spring rolls were really nice. Fried just right, tasty and don't come out so hot... More

This restaurant is to be avoided!
They have very little respect for the foreign tourist that they depend on for their income. I had ordered Chicken Satay, that is suppose to be accompanied by a peanut sauce and a small sweet pickled cucumber salad as stated on their menu.
I was served a stir fried chicken with chopped green onions and three slices of cucumber and was told that this was the Lao style satay.
I have been in Laos for four weeks now and had satay a few times. I also live in Thailand for part of each year and speak Thai. The waitress told the older woman in charge that I was told that I would be severed the "Lao Style" satay in the Lao language. I understood what she was saying and added in Thai, which most Lao understand, that I was not stupid and I know what Lao satay is.
What I was served was not satay by any stretch of the imagination. They would not take it back and I was required to pay for it. I paid to avoid an incident, but I advise anyone traveling to Luang Prabang, Laos to avoid this place like the plague.
