this food blog is picture heavy, and to someone who hasn’t watched the Gaulish Adventures of Asterix and the plucky little Obelix, or even attended an upper-middle-class and an over-abundant banquet of elite friends and foodies hankered around a cauldron of surprises with a wolfish...appetite, this would look either distinctly foreign or prehistoric, and one that is nothing less and in contrast to the striking scenes of the inevitable dinner parties and feasts known as the epulum in the Roman literary.. because no longer are men of today content with the binge-drinking episode of college campuses past and that there’s no denying, stagdo’s are becoming more sophisticated (sort of) and once unchained from the desk, we, boys, want to unleash the inner Gaul and do manly stuff - from rolling up of our sleeves and reclining on couches, to congregating on an extravagant fare of aristocratic drinks and eating of all things meat (with the possible exception of the roasted boar, the flute-girls and dancers, as well as courtesans) and keeping with the tradition more than an occasion for communal rejoicing that has changed very little though it has been thousands of years since the Roman Empire flourished; a re-creation of a Roman-Gallic feast was too compelling because we believe in the power of intimate celebration’s where a powerful combination of storytelling and food collide to unite.. and that this is no exaggeration to say, there can be nothing, and I mean nothing as much as exotic and kind of a spectacular and celebratory festal fit for a Royal gourmet than to take in a morsel of the fragrant strands of saffron-splotched basmati biryani rice, glistening with ghee and enrobed in a mélange of a marinade of tantalizing chicken tikka gravy and pieces of succulent fall-off-the-bone melt-in-the-mouth chicken in our fists and devour them going as far as to gnaw on the very bones straight out from a huge simmering X’tra X’tra X’tra Large witch’s cauldron like XXXL earthen pot of a true-blue Mumbai desi style murgh #chickenbiryani from @GazeboRestaurant that is not only elaborate of all the expensive ingredients and means of preparation, but even dramatic to satiate the savagery greed and legendary appetite of the pleasingly plump like Obelix’s gluttony inside each of us - as much as the eager to devour, small and skinny Asterix’s in our brigade of foodie’s wished there was some magic potion that could confer a few minutes irresistible strength at a single gulp…More
