I recently visited friends in Cincinnati so I had a good comparison basis. Iorio's ice cream is phenomenal. Their chocolate ice cream tastes like chocolate mousse. I liked that I could get a scoop split in 2 flavors. Great place and great service.

Very good gelato and excellent selection. They let you try as many as you want before selecting your favorites, as you can mix if you want.

I am lactose intolerant and there are lots of non-milk based options here. You can try as many flavors as you want first. Tradition states that you should not mix cream based gelato with fruit based flavors. But, this is hard to do when only having sorbets. I tried the dark chocolate sorbet, which was very good, and the mango... More

I have just recently been to Europe. Since my return I've been anxious to find the gelato I experienced there. Iorio's does not even come close. The velvety texture was replaced by one that was grainy. We tried two different flavors and was disappointed with both in flavor and texture. In addition the descriptions were miss leading. When I see... More

Amazing gelato, good price, great environment, except for the fact that they have psycho's working right next door to them (asian legend) who come out on the road and swear and harass people for no apparent reason. Phew.

The past two visits they have not had any coffee or dark chocolate choices. We will keep checking but we hate to have to walk all the way to Zingermans for gelato.

This was good Gelato in an area of town that needs some more places. Once it fills up around it and the word gets out, people will come. Great flavor offerings and great staff, reasonably priced.

Outstanding gelato, but the standout feature is the range of flavors available here. The Earl Grey is thought-provoking.

This is a cute little Gelateria. The gelato isn't the best I've had but it's good, and they often have really cool flavors. I would definitely recommend going!

Gelato is an Italian frozen dessert made with milk, sugar, & real ingredients like nuts, chocolate, & fruit. Though it resembles ice cream, gelato has LESS fat & MORE flavor than ice cream. Our dairy free gelatos are made with fruit, water, & sugar for a smooth, creamy, & healthy treat!

Established in 2004.

What started as a pushcart business selling italian ice at local events has turned into full retail location in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mary, a sophomore in High School at the time, decided after many a summer trip to the east coast, that italian ice needed to be brought to the midwest. This pushcart business evolved into a season market location, and eventually a year round stand with gelato and italian ice. Upon Mary's graduation from U of M in 2010, she knew Ann Arbor could use some sweetness. She brought her younger brother Nick on board (U of M '13) and together they brought this dream to reality in July 2011.
