The restaurant is named after the Palio horse race held twice annually in the town of Siena in Tuscany. Bareback riders, each representing one of the many districts in the town, circle the village square three times in a frantic race without rules. The restaurant walls are adorned with flags from each district. The menu is unique—an I-pad-like electronic tablet... More

We met some local family at Palio while in Ann Arbor for a college visit. We were able to request a perfect corner booth, great for conversation and catching up. Our server, Derian, was very helpful with the iPad menus and suggestions. She was very attentive and knew when to leave us to talk or stop by to check in.... More

Very good service. Food was served nice and hot which you can't always assume. Menu is a little limiting. Caesar salad was good but the portion was lacking. Swordfish was very enjoyable. Polenta cake was good. Both pastas we had were good, although my rigatoni could've used more sauce. Bread was OK, but why not leave the olive oil on... More

Second time we have eaten at Palio's. The food is great and is not crazy expensive like a few other Italian restaurants on the same block. Service is great. We have had the pizza, house salads, salmon and pasta dishes all very good. We ordered several of their moderately priced wines.....great pour and very good. Bread is thick and crusty... More

While they promote themselves as Country Italian fare, I guess I prefer the more traditional Italian restaurant with multiple selections of standard pasta dishes. They have a strong reputation in the Ann Arbor market, but I think there are other Italian restaurants in the area that are superior. This is not to say that what we ate was bad, it... More

Very nice service(Jackie?). It was my daughters bday and she brought out a cannoli as a surprise. I am vegan but they had some choices for me. Good wine and delicious bread. All were happy and full! Reasonably priced too! I would return.

First, I want to say the service and the Ceasar salad were great! The $19 bolognese was not very good at all. There was very little sauce and what was there was watery and without flavor. Considering the expense of the dish I would have expected much more. Perhaps, it was a bad night but, there are other places in... More

Nice Italian restaurant on Maim St. Food was very good as they introduce a new menu from the New Chef. Food was well presented and there was a broad choice on the menu. The wine list while not "Grand" had some good choices at different budgets and many "by the glass" options. I understand there is roof top dinning in... More

Description
Previous Next Authentic Tuscan Dishes Born in September of 1991, Palio is a country-style, Italian restaurant featuring authentic Tuscan dishes. Named for the famous horse race that runs yearly through Siena, Italy, a record is even kept of the race's winners on a mural along the back dining room wall. During summer, Palio boasts Ann Arbor's largest and most popular outdoor gathering spot on its rooftop patio - Palio Del Sole. Offering the best view of Ann Arbor's energetic downtown nightlife, Palio Del Sole is fully equipped with its own cucina and offers a unique menu that is completely different from Palio downstairs. There simply is no better Al Fresco dining experience on a warm summer evening in Ann Arbor.
