We have visited this Chinese restaurant over the years and it has been fine. I ordered hot & sour soup- nice except that the prawns were " on the turn", my wife had chicken & sweetcorn soup- ok: for mains: sweet & sour chicken- nice flavour and lots of ginger, the prawn noodles we sent back as the prawns stank... Owned by the same people who run the Scala the Tao offers a Thai alternative. Quality of both food and service are as you would expect. A very high standard indeed. If you are looking for a great Thai experience whilst in the Gambia this is just the place. Excellent!

Other reviewers have made this point but to avoid disappointment, let me be very clear, the “Thai buffet” contains no Thai dishes whatsoever – just as it didn’t when I came here years ago. There are lots of Chinese people in Thailand and lots of Chinese food there (all of it much better than this) but that doesn’t make Chinese... More

Good selection of Thai food. Excellent service. Draft Julbrew (less gassy than bottled). The owner is the husband of the chef in Scala (next door) and the staff appearance and service is as good.

We are greeted as old friends, sit in our usual table. The fish is very fresh, the shrimps so sweet. The dishes range from mild and fragrant to quite sharp and spicey. We have one of each to share. We end the meal by sitting over a pot of chinese tea, then walk back to our hotel, relaxed, replete and... More

We dined here on the buffet evening (Thursday?) during our stay in Kololi. Having been disappointed at not getting a table for La Scala buffet night, we booked this one at Tao beforehand. We had a nice outside table and drinks service was smooth and efficient - they had decent wine available (not the normal Pearly Bay sickly sweet low... More

Owned by the couple who own La Scala. Average Chinese food but you get a lot. Nice setting in the garden. Good service. Wine reasonable price. Would return

Owner & staff miserable, in fact the owner was more interested in counting the takings, staff were not happy at all & seemed to be barked at all the time. Food was bland & decor dark & dingy.
