Being a lover of durian, I do try to have durian wherever I go in Asia. Indonesian durian is, from my limited knowledge, the durian from which all durian varieties we have today were developed. They are not as fleshy as the durians from Thailand.....but...are tasty. Came across Si Bolang Durian through a recommendation and have been a number of times. The first thing that catches your eye is the VW beetle sitting on the top of a 20' pole. Fabulous. The staff are attentive and friendly. Most importantly, the durian are the best I have had in Indonesia. A big claim, but its true. Si Bolang Durian do nothing else. Its their speciality.....and I am thankful. Also, there's a cafe next door, owned by Si Bolang, that serves durian coffee !!! What more can I say?More

At first i brought some friends from jakarta to eat durian here rather than their competitor for their ambience and good durian. We have 8 person in total We need to be seperated due to health protocol. I do understand. So finally We split into...two tables. But when i look around, others may sit 6 person in a long table. Meanwhile we only allowed on 4 person for long table. After we take our seat no waiter waiting for us to order. Super bad first impression. All they do they want us to move our seat again, all due to health protocol. When we want to take the new seat , the waiter say no again. I feel so embarassed and take it to their competitor which turns out have better service. I dont understand how they regulate the SOP. I wont comeback and bring another guest here ever again.More

It's a durian house, also a heaven for durian lovers. One of the most crowded destination in Medan. Since the first opened, the venue went wider now. Besides enjoying the (durian) fruit, this durian restaurant also offers prosessed durian food and beverage. Every weekend and...in the holiday/peak season, Sibolang Durian will be full of tourists who hunt for durian.More

Medan is well famous for durians, although those are not planted in Medan but suburban or areas within the same province. Here, you can enjoy durians in the most coziest way. Sometimes accompanied by live music. Instagrammable as well. One thing you should be aware...before you start to order is the price. Make sure you asked for it because here the price counted with it's weigh. Per piece would normally weigh 1-2 kg. Some above 2. This place opens for 24h and provide durians everyday for the whole year, but when the festive season comes, will be priced 50-60k per kg, and will reach 120k or more when they don't have many stocks from farmer. Durian season happen twice a year, around December to January and July to August. Please ask for exchange if you found the durian that you eat is rotten or tasteless/ overripe. They will change the durian for no charge. I've read that durians best consume is morning to noon. But here, most people prefer to enjoy this after dinner time, since they can have it with no rush and along with relax conversation with families or friends. It also a habit built long time that fruit will be better consume after main dish. Best taste of durian in my opinion is milky with sweet along with bitter taste. Enjoy Medan, enjoy durian... https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g297725-d12058098-r737458696-Si_Bolang_Durian-Medan_North_Sumatra_Sumatra.html#More

Durians are average. We paid Rp110,000 for a 1.7kg durian. We wanted only 1 durian but the stall helpers did not understand my English and open 3-4 durians. I think I prefer my MSW and Golden Phoenix at home.

This place is quite different from other places in which I was eating durian. It is built as multiple rooms, multiple floors large caffe with a lot of kitschy decorations, bright illumination and entertainment like was a live music band, multiple tv screens etc. The...waiters are uniformed in restaurant brand shirts (there was even a souvenir shop there in which you can buy such a shirt). The place was fully packed with a few hundreds of customers. In spite of that we got our durian quickly and it was quite good.More

The place is Instagrammable, for sure.. Came here on Dec 22nd, 8 pm, and it's crowded! People keep coming, and I reckon they were enjoying both the atmosphere and the durians. The durian taste good, and we choose the ones with the bitter taste. We...did ask for one sweet durian fruit (like montong) for our 6 yo daughter tho, but I think they don't really have it as we try 3x (3 different fruits) and still taste the bitterness LOL. The best service is that we can ask for a replacement (for free) when we got a bad/poor durian quality e.g. rotten, taste awfull, not fresh, etc. They have enough seats for the customers, but lack of parking lots. They even offer the "all you can eat" promo -which cost around IDR 59.000/person- for the first 100 customers of the day (ofcourse, you have to follow their IG first). Interestingly, they have this local band that sings well and jokes well. If you're a durian lover, this will be the best place to hang out with your friends!More

I will go back again to this place. Their durians are delicious. We can check durian together with a servant before pay it. Just in case we got the bad quality durian in the middle of eating such as overripe, rotten etc, we can ask...to change it without any surcharge of. Cozy place for hanging out too, good lay-out or design makes guest feel welcome here. Also, a live music was really entertaining. I can stay here for long time and eat durian again and again. One thing that I need it from this place, enlarge the space, add the capacity, so I always have a seat for enjoying durianMore

Another option to eat durian in Medan, on top of the other very popular similar outlet. The venue is very big, clean, colorful, and good to take pictures. Quality of Durian is good, and you can taste it before you eat, and when the quality...is not good, you can always change for with new Durian. Better to come on late afternoon or evening time if you want to sit at outside area with no roof. Compare to other place, the price is quite expensive. If you are Durian Lover who only focus on taste and good price, don’t come here. But, if venue is also part of your consideration, you can try this placeMore

This place offers instagram ambience. So even if you don't consume or enjoy the King of Fruits - Durian, it is still worth your effort to visit this place, at night. There are no durian for sale in the afternoon, even though they operates 24hrs....So visit after 6pm. I expect durian sellers to control the quality of durians for a revisit. If you are expecting the quality of Malaysia's durians, you will be disappointed and i don't mean the premium grade types like MSW, D24, Red Prawn etc just regular durians.More

Durian, the king of all fruits, is a must-taste fruit when you're in Medan, North Sumatera, Indonesia. Durian Ucok is one of the top places to eat durian in the city. But, recently it has a more competitive, cleaner, and professionally managed place to eat...durian to beat up. Its name is Sibolang Durian located strategically at Jl. Iskandar Muda 75 C-D, Medan, the capital city of North Sumatera Province. The price is weight-wise. A kg is tagged at Rp. 75.000, roughly equal to US$ 5, and enough for one person consumption. The stall is designed to mimic a modern and open air cafe, cleanly maintained. Young girls will immediately greet and serve approaching clients. Nice. The taste of durian served is good, probably the same quality of those served at Ucok Durian. I like the place relative to Ucok Durian's that is always busy like traditional markets in Pattaya, Thailand. Sibolang is also open 7/25. I highly recommend those durian lovers to come and taste the durians served at Sibolang Durian. Overall rating is 4/5, a must-try.More

Unlike the typical street stalls that sell durians, this place is clean, well laid out and a relaxing place to enjoy durian. There's a good variety and it's attractively priced. The place was packed, and understandably so.

It is a cool place for durian lovers to get together and eat durians. The staffs were however not so helpful when it came to ordering. If I was new to eating this fruit, i would not have enjoyed it as much. None of the...staffs came around to make sure we were ok. I gave them a confused look and they ignored me. Other than that, the durian was good. Not sure about the price. You should ask about the price first. They let you have a taste test to chose the right durian.More
