The Blue Heron is an absolute oasis from the busy streets of Arusha. The garden seating is just lovely, and the food was absolutely wonderful. We could not get enough of this place, and ended up coming a total of three times for lunch during our two weeks in Tanzania. Each time was just magical, the setting, the service, and... More

Me and a friend had lunch here and a few things make The Blue Heron a good contender for number one restaurant: 1.Speed; I ordered the 'Meat Lovers' pizza for Tsh16,500/- (a little pricy) and before I knew it, my food was right in front of me; honestly I didn't have to wait long for my food which made me... Living in Arusha I love visiting the blue heron for a little slice of peace and quiet. The Meatlovers tapas plate is always a winner! The schwari shop on location has some beatiful hand made items and is definitely worth a look if you are visiting Arusha

We were looking for a quick dinner out where we could enjoy the nice weather and have some good food. This restaurant ticks all the boxes.

Beautiful outdoor setting surrounded by lush tropical trees with a lovely water fountain in the centre. Options for tables in the sunshine or shade. Enjoy the ambience in the evenings accompanied with a live band (some evenings). Nearby gift shop carries high quality African gifts for others or yourself. The food is good too. :)

This is set in a very pleasant environment in the more affluent part of town. We went in the evening, so it was dark and couldn't judge the surroundings fully, but it seemed very nice indeed, and really enjoyed our meals and the price was very reasonable. The food was simple but tasty, with a generous free garlic bread starter... More

I loved the location and beautiful sitting area. There is a lovely fountain in the garden area, which creates a soothing background while visiting and eating. They also have a very nice patio area. The food was very good. We had lunch and everyone enjoyed their meals, especially the vegetable lasagna with a pesto cream sauce.

The peach and feta samosas were great and chicken salad and pizzas were enjoyed by the others. My feta with pesto wasn't so great - many had no filling.

I came for a quick bite, wish I'd had more time to just sit in the shade on the comfy chairs and chill out! Pesto veg lasagna was delicious, service was pleasant and attentive. They also have a lovely gift shop---don't go in unless you want to spend money!
