Treated very rudely by employees working the front counter at this restaurant, the only place I have felt unwelcome during my first month as a new resident of Japan. No apologies at all when they realized they had made a mistake and been rude and aggressive for no reason. Do not recommend. Food doesn't live up to the hype and... More

Located at the 9th floor of Meitetsu departement store. We came at 1.30 pm and had a long queue for almost 1 hour, luckily the hitsumabushi was worth the wait. We ordered the mini and the regular one.. The mini size was perfect for ladies size. Other restaurant serve only big size hitsumabushi. The unagi was delicious, there's a bit... More

In the entrance there is a line of chairs, we waited about 30 minutes to get in, the line is getting smaller about 9 pm. Inside we got to sit in the place where you have to take off you're shoes, and the atmosphere there is very comforting. They main dish is an eel with rice, you can choose different... More

I went to this popular eel rice shop where there are 3 kinds of ways to eat it. When you arrive, u will always see lots of people sitting on chairs prepared outside. There is a Japanese menu ( no other menu available ) being passed around so u can decide what to order. The staff speaks English and will... More

One of the best unagi I had in my life. Abit pricey but it's definitely worth the queue and the price! Great service too.. and staff can speak English!

Expect a long wait in line and consider quite expensive, but this is one of Nagoya's famous cuisine and I have no regrets paying almost 4,000yen for the set lunch because it was so good!

Was in Nagoya for a 2 nights. Heard about Maruya hitsumabashi (grilled eels) at Nagoya station. It was delicious 😋. The perfectly-grilled exquisite hitsumabashi was really tasty & was the best that I have tasted. We waited for 30 minutes. Service was excellent & efficient. The next day I had lunch here again.

This is the most delicious unagi I have ever tried. Even though I went to the restaurant in the odd hour like 3 PM, I still had to wait for an hour. I tried one with soup pouring on the rice, and at first not sure if it was ok for me. After the first bite,... man, this is the... More

Conveniently located near the Nagoya station. An English written instruction is provided on the method of eating the Hitsumabushi. Tried the both the grilled and boiled eel liver. I prefer the boiled version. If you are not too keen to order an entire portion of eel liver, it is also available in one of the additional soup option of the... More
