We walked from Otaru station along canal heading towards Minami-Otaru station, Kamaei is along the way. Great place for rest stop even if you don't buy anything. Their specialties are fish cakes of all kinds, but they also have other stuff. Free hot/cold water/tea and...More

Popular Tourist Spot where for a few dollars you can have a good meal. Otaru’s Stroller’s Bus stops right in front of Kamaei where you can sit down and eat what you have purchased.

Try the fish cake here indeed very tasty. Try the bread roll (bread with surimi (the fish paste used to make kamaboko).

The original fish cake tastes a but sweet. I also tried the one with mayonnaise, this one taste better than the original one. They have green tea and oolong tea free flow.

Despite all the fantastic reviews on how great the fish cake tasted, I find that the fish cakes are not as good as the ones u have back in my home country. In fact, even if taking my own country's fishcake out and making comparison...More

Something unique to try, the famous sweet fish cake! Inexpensive and delicious. Costs 194 yen for a piece. They have other varieties as well and an open factory glass space for observation.
