A few days ago we dropped by Rootian Seafood restaurant to have a dinner. An elderly man wanted to write down our order. We asked for a menu, he said menu is not ready yet. So I asked him how much to order a dish...of claypot tofu, he said not expensive and only the cook would know the price. Then I asked him how much to have a dish of vegetables in small size, again he answered "not expensive only the cook knows the price", and no menu yet. What a service and we had to leave, never know the cook might simply charge us for a simple dinner. Maybe RM1000 is considered Not Expensive in this restaurant. So beware! Do not simply sit down to makan and later baru counting the price.More

An unassuming corner shop restaurant (Alfresco style) which serves lip smacking Chinese cuisine. We had pork knuckles, vegetables, steamed fish & fried squid. All the dishes were lovely. Very very reasonable price and they charged us only RM 8 corkage for our bottle of wine....Very friendly staff and super efficient service, Mr Jacky who is the owner came to our table to ensure we were being well looked after which was a good gesture. I strongly recommend this restaurant if you want to have good food which does not cost an arm and a leg...More

Not a pretty place, pavement seats and tables on a street corner, but always busy and we always enjoy the food. It is basically Chinese - their Spring Rolls are really good, not quite the usual shape but they do make their own. We had...sweet & sour prawns, chicken satay and a duck dish with fried rice and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not fine dining, but enjoyed just as much as in some 4 & 5 *'s we have visited. The staff know their food and are always willing to advise and tell you that the "small" sizes are quite enough for one! They do beers and soft drinks but, unfortunately, do not seem to have a dessert menu! Suppose you can't have everything.More

Delicious Chinese food in downtown Kuah (I think). We liked the Singapore noodles, spicy tofu, and sweet and sour pork. Friendly staff and decent service. Cheap and cold beer.

Eat here both nights that we stayed in this area. Can highly recommend the chicken in black beef, chicken satay, prawns in satay and chicken in sweet n sour they were all excellent. Staff all very good. Toilets not so great by westerners standards. Beer...also available which was a bonus.More

Walked past this place and decided to stop for dinner as the tables outside were full of locals. Not much to look at, and certainly not fine dining....but wow, the food is amazing ! Lots of choices, beef, chicken, duck, seafood etc...waitress helped us with...the menu, food arrived quickly, nice and freshly cooked, hot too. Very generous portions, ordered x3 small dishes for two and it was plenty for less than £10 including x2 beers and a soft drink. So nice went back for a second visit, equally as nice, and even more full of locals.More

Went to the restaurant on Saturday and there was a night market across the bridge. So could walk over to have desserts there. The food was delicious and affordable. Service was fast, staff was also friendly. Would come back

One of our best decisions visiting Langkawi! Was recommended to us by a concierge at the Westin Marriot where we stayed as Rootian was close to the Wednesday night market. Excellent selection of dishes and we must have ordered about 6 dishes including noodles x2....Fried oysters with eggs, etc was yum. Would definitely recommend as it was excellent authentic Chinese food and value for money.More

Finally I have the decent non halal Chinese food. Didn't order the seafood as I find it quite X. Order their garlic pork was a hit. Common dish like sweet and sour pork, mix vegetable and old cucumber soup was little salty. Overall Taste 7.5/10,...portion was generous . After all we are here for the food not for the service and expect 5 star service. It is a kopitiam "zi char ". Price I would say 25% more then usual zi char in KL or JB. But Hey.. Kuah town is the only place you get to eat non halal food ..so eat to your heart content. Menu are provided in English and car park is not an issue. Be patience with a smile.. You will get the attention of the boss.. Happy food hunting!More
