We end up going twice to Assam House during our holidays in Ipoh. That shows how good the place is.
Assam House advertised it as a fine nyonya cuisine restaurant. And it is really fine dinning. The place is cozy, with inside (air cond) & outside seating. We went there at 6pm, and there only few diner. Theirs staff were really attentive & friendly (esp the boss).
The first visit we had a set meal as recommended by the staff. Curry assam grouper, butter prawn, salted egg sotong, crispy creamy chicken, salted baby kailan. On second visit we had nyobas kankung, sambal petai sotong, seafood tomyam, egg foo yong & crispy creamy chicken (again). And it all recommendable and true to nyonya cooking. And it was served within few minutes, really fast.
The price was reasonable for a fine dinning. Can’t expect a ‘warung’ price for such meals, but it is worth it.

We went without any reservation and was seated outside. Foods was good, especially the sambal petai sotong. We ordered small and it seems that there's only one sotong with 3 of us managed to enjoyed 2 cut pieces each. Services provided was good and attentive. My only comment is the all the food served are cold.

Assam House in Greentown Ipoh, has 1 waitress with very rude attitude. Asking like scolding, no smile at all, serves the food on the table roughly and did not respect customers. That one particular Chinese waitress with short hair and cap. Plus size woman. Very rude.

The workers here super friendly. They'll take care of you until you leave the restaurant. Not forgetting about the food, it's amazing. Highly recommend if you guys are coming here with a family.

Yearly reunion dinner gathering to this well known restaurant in Ipoh.
Overall food served during this peak period is well prepared & balanced in terms of the dishes that were served to the dinners. Credit to the cooks n staff.
The only comment I would like the planner whom did the preparing of the CNY menu is to avoid the used of squid or “SOTONG”. In their menu this, Sotong were found in the main loh sang, mixed vegetables & deep fry. Seriously as the Cantonese’s would want to avoid this word “chow yow ee“ or being layered off from one’s company.
You guys in the kitchen knows very well to this majority Cantonese’s speaking societies especially in the city of IPOH. I might be wrong and it’s my own statement.

there was so much to choose from in the menu, it was really giving me a hard time lol (but in a good way). the food was incredible, presentation was pretty and not to mention, they give you free crackers/chips(?) the moment you sit at the table! prices are on the ok side too. staff are also so cheerful and friendly! highly recommended.

I love Chinese foods. I tried their tomyam, Assam fried prawn and another menu for egg. I was happy with the food as it bring happiness in my tummy.

Apart from being a Halal outlet, there is also surau located at the 1st floor. Well maintained. The food is simply delicious. My choice will be definitely the assam curry fish, sambal udang petai (yummy) and Pandan chicken. I will definitely visit them everytime I visit Ipoh

If you crave for thai food, this is one of the best restaurant in ipoh you should go for a try. They started as "Assam House" so don't expect them to be good at every types of food. Thai food such as assam prawn are one of the finest and tastiest you can find in here. Over all pretty good in a sense especially the quality. Though a little bit costly compared to others but its worth trying.
PS: Good lady boss too. You will admire her courage to be separated from the husband who is now still selling duck noodles somewhere in town.
