We booked dinner here for our arrival night at the Banjaran, and chose the more Western 'Inception' tasting menu. From setting foot into the place to leaving after some cocktails the whole experience was amazing. The setting, the music, the service, and of course the...food. On the food alone it's probably up there in my all time top 10 meals, and the overall experience was exceptional. As I was enjoying each early course I was left wondering 'why doesn't this place have a Michelin Star?'. The answer came with the halibut fish course - it was great produce, turned into a tasty dish, but somehow didn't have the magic of the botan shrimp before it or the wagyu beef that came next. I chose a bottle of Chablis to wash things down, which was pricy but not outrageous, and it was a fine example of the type.More

What else to say. It scored 300 out of 100. Especially the steak, truffle whipped potato goes so well with the A5 steak. The rest is fantastic too. From the atmosphere, service, music and natural view. Special thanks Mr. Dharvin who has been so professional...and going extra mile to please our dining experiences. I am glad to chose here for my important celebration.More

Come for the place and ambience. It is small, but pretty amazing (However, it could be because this was the first cave i visited - my impression may have been different if i had come here after i had seen the caves at Kek Lok...Si temple..where the formations are truly more magnificent, only no air-con at the temple la!) Loved the coolness, and the sound of water dripping. Although, our dietary restrictions were noted and alternatives were settled via email communication - the staff on the ground were not made aware when we arrived. I had zero expectations for the food (had been warned before hand), but still managed to be disappointed and could not (would not) finish my main course. All three of us agreed that the main course was the weakest dish (we all chose diff mains - beef, lamb, jungle fowl). The restaurant already has a reputation for poor quality food, and it would be a pity if this trend continued. Please do something - better to have simple food cooked well, then poorly executed fancy menus. Ipoh is well known for its food, DO BETTER! Would not recommend unless you have cash to spare.More

This was an exquisite experience, dining in such an ancient space. Beautiful curated degustation menu, which took us on a journey (seafood, vegetables, wagyu steak, and dessert with cacao nibs). The service was some of the best we've ever experienced. At the end of the...night, the chef greeted us and sought feedback on our experience. He also showed us through to the wine cellar, which was stocked with beautiful wines from all over the world (including some Western Australian labels 😊) Do yourself a favour, and book dinner at Jeff's Cellar - you won't regret it.More
