Jackpot! Halal dimsum in Ipoh!

Jackpot! Found an authentic halal dimsum restaurant in Ipoh. Many choices - steamed n fried n some special selections!! We were happy with all our choices... too bad there was only two of us...couldn't try as many types as we wished :) the servers came to each table with trays of steamed dimsum n fried dimsum. We also ordered the fried white radish....took 10 minutes as advised by our server. Service was fast n we didn't have to queue! Will definitely go again!

Delicious Dim Sums!

I saw Canning Dim Sum across the road from the Holly Wood Food Court due to its decorative garden. My sidekick & I crossed the road to check it out even after having a full belly from lunch. Upon arriving, we were told that the restaurant was about to close. Apparently, they open at 7:30 am & close at 3:30 pm on a daily basis except on Wednesday. Hence, we decided to stop by the restaurant on our last day before leaving after having a peek at the menu. As mentioned, the restaurant’s landscape was beautifully decorated. It had a mixture of fake & real plants, trees & flowers. There were 2 huge heart-shape props screaming for attention. In the middle of the garden were 2 very tall rattan or wicker chairs decorated with lots of fake flowers. We jumped onto the bandwagon & followed others who were busy taking selfies & wefies. We also made use of the Chinese paper-thin umbrellas that were on display on the ground to complete the look & left shortly after we were pleased with our photo shoots. On our last day in Ipoh, we arrived at 2:15 pm after checking out from The Haven. Parking can be difficult as the restaurant does not have its own parking space but lady luck was on our side. We got one just in front of Holly Wood Hawker Centre. The restaurant was still full of people & most of them were Malay customers. This is understandable as Canning Dim Sum prides itself as an operator & distributor of halal dim sum products with ethical food practices to a wide variety of customers. They have at least 60 types of dim sum to try ranging from the steamed, fried & dessert categories. The halal dim sum place was full of round & rectangular tables. We chose a booth seating area with a rectangular table that was adorned with pretty coloured tiles on top. The staff was quick & attentive. She gave us the menu. Minutes later, a young man came to our table with a tray full of 8 different kinds of dim sums. There were so many to choose from that I was overwhelmed. So, the young man explained the contents of each dim sum basket. I think we chose 4 from the tray & ordered 2 from the menu which was a bit much for just the 2 of us. But we couldn’t get enough of the salted egg lava pau dessert as they were so delicious! Will we come back? It’s an affirmative yes as we don’t know of any other halal dim sum in Ipoh. However, it’s best to come with a huge group so that you can order more dishes. Just be prepared to spend as certain items are expensive.

The best Dim Sum in town!

So many people 🤣 You have to take a number and queue and they will call you when there's an available seat. Waiting in queue time is less than 15 minutes so I think it's still okay. Always the best Dim Sum in Ipoh. Please order their Kopi Ais. It's so good 🥰

Prefer steaming hot dim sum

The dim sum did not eat well though tasty as they were served at room temperature, not steamed to order. Had the dim sum been served steaming hot, they would had eaten well and enhanced our dining experience. We rounded up our lunch with BBQ chicken pau and fried fish balls and these were delicious. Wanna know why? Coz they were fresh out from the kitchen.

Can avoid - expensive

We went there on our Day 1 as other Dim sum places were closed and it was still open. Food is decent and service good and prompt. Bit we found it to be a tourist trap as it was too expensive as per Ipoh standards. And on final bill - the guy put 10% service charge and 6% SST. Later we noticed that most restaurants prices were nett and they never charge this 16% extra.

Start open early morning 7.30 am smpai 3pm rase nye. We arrived 8.20am tak ramai lg yg beratur klau dtg 9.15am mmg full panjang beratur.. Just call dia punye promoter terus dpt food, nk order pon xtaw , just tgok diorg bwl dlm tray mcm sedap just grab.. tp seronok ngan family o kwn2.. Pasal harge mmg kene spend more. Sbb mkn je tgok nk lg. Pastu byar hiihiihii😁 pnjang bil nye😊

Great Place - Light food Huge Satisfaction

We dropped by this place for Breakfast on a Public Holiday (Raya Day 2). Although full, there was still no que or slow service. The staff were efficient in serving guests. They were able to explain details and types of dim sum. Food is Halal and the place was great. Parking may be an issue so be prepared to park far away and walk. Highly recommended

Best halal Dimsum

Very popular restaurant. Efficient service, great food. Good variety of flavours. Waitress briefed on each type and periodically brought more. Also try the Chee Chong Fun.

Breakfast With Delicious Dim Sum

The ambience was good. There are lots of variety of dim sum that you can try. However, my personal favourite is FRIED LOBAK. It was nice and not too oily. For me, the bonus point for this restaurant is it has HALAL certificate. Overall, it was an enjoyable breakfast with my family.

Best dim sum

Never had Halal dim sum until

Never had Halal dim sum until I visited Canning yesterday - and what a pleasant surprise! We loved everything we ordered and even ordered more as takeaways! The fried reddish cake and fried prawn rolls are not to miss!

Still very good

When this halal dim sum first started a year off ago she was the talk of the town. My partners and friends must have spent almost every weekend having breakfast there. Since then the owners of this establishment started a factory, got their halal certification. Because to this they encountered some teething problems common in any over ambitious undertaking. They have since stabilised and is now serving the superb quality we have come to expect for this Ipoh icon. Q
