Excellent Authentic India Restaurant in Ipoh

Having lived in India for several years and traveled widely overseas, I can state with conviction that it was in this restaurant that we had one of the finest dining experience. The food was even better than that in the most renowned ones in Delhi or any north Indian city. Decent decor. Very reasonably priced, clean and courteous service. Value for money. Highly recommended.

Worth eating here because you won’t be able to taste these kind of specialities anywhere out there. Perfect place to dine in with your partner, family and your friends because the soft instrumental songs and the sophisticated interior design will bring you the next level of your feelings. Nice place to fill up your stomach in Ipoh and the best place in Malaysia for north Indian food.😍

Best north India food in Ipoh, and great pitstop on the KL-Penang road

Tasty food, excellent service, and spacious location/parking. North Indian/Punjabi food was on par with a very good fine dining restaurant. Waiters were helpful and even customised the dishes to suit our road trip requirements. Went back on our return journey, even though this restaurant was not in our plans

Dissapointed!

We ordered food via Food Panda ie. Rumali Roti, Kashmiri Cheese Naan and 2 Chicken Tikka Cheese Naan. When it was delivered to us at our office, we were dumbfounded to see that there was no dhall/ gravy with it. We called Tandoor Grill on the same and were horrified to be told that we have to order the dhall or gravy separately as its not included with the Rumali Roti/ Naan which we had ordered. A BIG establishment expects to be paid for dhall/gravy??? Even a small restaurant will give u any amount of dhall, chicken curry gravy, fish curry gravy and chutney at no cost at all. We will never again order or even dine there after this. Expecting to be paid for the dhall/ gravy has made them lose their customers. Not even an apology was given when we had called. Dissapointed!

Dear koyal_wanderlust, We are sorry that you and your workmates were disappointed with the food delivered via food panda. We have been in operation for the past 8 years and throughout this years, we have not been providing any gravies with our bread items. You will know as well as you have previously dined in with us (do check back your previous review). A word of advise - Do not assume things, try asking ! The same way you called us to question us after ordering, why don't you try to call before ordering and find out if there were gravies provided. A place can be big or small, cheap, reasonable or expensive, do not judge / assume / expect! Everyone runs their business according to their method, hence don't judge anyone by its cover and respect the way it is. We will definitely apologize if it was a mistake from our side, but in this situation, the problem boils down to an assumption made by a customer, where we are in no way in fault. Thank you and have a nice day ahead.

A really poor experience.

We visited this restaurant on a Monday evening and having seen all the good reviews we came away very disappointed. The restaurant itself looked very nice on arrival but unfortunately it went downhill from there. The food itself was very average when compared to other establishments we have eaten in over the years. We ordered Veg samosa and pakora for starters, the pakora was very dry, barely warm and soggy, the samosa was too dry and the pastry was too thick. It felt as though it had been standing there going cold a long time. My wife thought her butter chicken was pretty good but my sizzling chicken Tandoori was swimming in a sweet over seasoned paprika tasting sauce which completely took away any tandoor aspect of the chicken. Tandoori chicken is a dry dish and sizzlers in most restaurants would consist of sizzling onions and peppers/ spices with the Tandoori chicken on top. It was impossible to pick up and eat and a spoon and fork made it impossible to cut from the bone without creating a mess. The sauce was overbearing and spoiled the concept of Tandoori chicken for me. There was also a real staffing issue on the night, the poor waiters were obviously rushed off their feet and frazzled. It was virtually impossible to get any table service. We requested that our main course turn up after we had finished eating our starters...the main dish of chicken sizzler/butter chicken turned up at the same time. Why did that happen and wouldn't commonsense tell you to wait with the main course? We ordered extra drinks which 45 minutes later still hadn't arrived, eventually we flagged down a waiter who went behind the bar and made them up himself..before literally running away to service another table. No waiters available to order desert and coffee so we decided to pay up and leave. We were greeted at the till by a very uninspiring lady who couldn't even be bothered to make eye contact, ask if we had enjoyed our meal, nothing at all. So we left the building wondering what all the fuss was about, I felt most sorry for the waiters, they need help because the customer experience was very poor and this was on Monday evening not Weekend. It appeared to be lacking a proper supervisor/ manager in the dining room, the service was unacceptable really. I hope the criticism can be viewed as constructive by those running this restaurant, the whole evening was frustrating and became very hard work.

Delicious indian food

This is our favourite restaurant in Ipoh. This restaurant is beautifully decorated with a fine dining ambiance with fabric table cloths and low lighting. The food is delicious and fresh. Highly recommend the Mutton Shahi Korma. The food is reasonably priced for the quality and portion sizes. The staff are very attentive and efficient. We love this restaurant and will definitely return soon!

Highly overrated

Highly overrated. We are told that butter chicken is their signature dish. It arrived and it was boiled chicken pieces dipped in prepared cream gravy. No taste ! The restaurant service staff was good though

Authentic Northern Indian Fine Dining @Ipoh

It’s our 2nd option to come here after Khuntai Village were so full and we don’t believe in queuing for something you need to pay for or long Q is always good! Tandoor Grill serve northern Indian food with a modern twist. The food is good but it’s a bit pricey. We ordered the lamb Shank, nice and juicy but it’s a bit small for the price paid for. Very nice setting and ambience. Private room and hall upstairs is also available for any private function. Overall we had good dining experience in TG. We will try their branch in KL soon.

We had a great meal here. My husband is Indian so we are used to eating Indian food. Everything was good. Not spicy but still flavorful. They have free table water. Service was decent and the building is nice and clean. They have a full bar.

Worst ever restaurant

We had our small celebration in this restaurant . We make a reservation for private room week ahead which they had confirmed when we arrive we ended up in a hall and the private room was given to others which is the same race of the owner. We just continue our celebration in the hall then we had a minor complain which the owner is so racist, arrogant, rude by shouting at us and blaming us for their fault. Very very unprofessional in handling customer complain.

Food is excellent with good service. Plenty of space Great bar. Extensive menu. Dishes served well and the staff have good recommendations. The vegetable Samosa, Tandoor chicken and the Roti as well as the Lassi are recommended

Great not fantastic but very good

We tried to book and was informed totally booked out. We decided to wing it and arrived at opening hours. No line up heaps of tables vacant. We embraced the Northern Indian food offered and had a most enjoyable meal. Not the best but good. Very clean great booze on offer and fantastic service. Clean toilets . A big plus plus for us . Sorry I did not take any pictures

Amazing naan and paneer
