A family owned business established in Ireland, at a place known as “Cork” in 1845 and till today runs the 2 outlet by its family members. It has been a local bar for the famous actor Oliver Reed. Healy Mac’s is the first of its kind, establishing its foothold in Malaysia in 2009, a multi-cultured country in the Asia region. Healy Mac’s Irish Bar and Restaurant provides the best Irish conceptualized ambience with a feel of comfort and satisfaction. The manager and the workers are very friendly and more than helpful. Food and drinks are amazing

Healy Mac has been my go-to watering hole in Ipoh for a few years now and I have always had an outstanding experience. The ambiance is vibrant yet cozy, perfect for both a night out with friends and a relaxed evening. The drink selection is impressive, featuring a wide range of cocktails, beers, and fine wines. The Guinness and the Kilkenny are a must try for beer lovers. The food is also amazing especially the wide variety of pizzas that they have to offer
Special shoutout to the manager, Ramesh for always going above and beyond to ensure my friend and I have a great time thanks to his warm hospitality and genuine care for the guests.
Overall, Healy Mac is a highly recommended spot.

The best bar to visit in Ipoh. Food served here is always top notch especially the pizzas. Wide range of drinks to choose and the kilkenny served here is the best among others bars in Ipoh.
Staff are always friendly and helpful. The manager Mr. Ramesh has always been welcoming and friendly to us. Mr. Ramesh always keeps the environment in the bar welcoming by always interacting with the customers and making sure they are having a good time.
A must visit to anyone who is looking to have a good time in Ipoh

Went with 5 friends and we each ordered meals and cocktails. The meal took about half an hour to arrive and only 4 of us got our food. The fifth order had to be changed after the rest arrived because they did not have the chicken anymore, why we weren't inform when we were ordering or even after that I do not know but we had to wait another half hour for the next meal to arrive. One of the other orders we had also was a wrong order. I ordered a Guinness steak pie only to receive a steak, I asked if this was the pie and the waiter reassured me two times that this was the pie. Ate it thinking it was a different pie and the waiter should know better. None of our cocktails arrived till we finished our meals. We called for the bill and was billed for everything, drink and food despite not receiving our drinks. I was charged double what I expected because I apparently had a 'rib eye' steak instead of the pie. I asked the waiter what is all these charges and they removed the cocktails only since we did not receive after being there for more than 2 hours but that was it. They were not bothered and could not care less. Definitely did not tip and would not go again

We were given a table next to what we feared was going to be a rowdy group of heavy drinking men, tuns out, one of them was the manager or supervisor.
Our drinks came and my beer was warm and flat but I couldn't get anyone's attention. Two of our three meals came, delivered by the supervisor but the third meal, my Mum's, didn't come. Food kept arriving at the supervisors table in abundance though. We waited for 15 minutes when I finally caught the waitress’ attention. She said the meal was 'On the way'. Rather than allow our two meals to get cold, we ate while my Mum waited. Again, I asked the waitress, she said '5 more minutes'. We had finished our meals and still no sign of my Mum's lasagna. I asked again '2 minutes more'. Finally, we'd had enough. We paid for the drinks and two meals and left.
We are regular customers at Healy Mac’s in Penang and always receive great friendly service but I will never go back to the branch in Ipoph.

Regular (ish) patron at HM Straits Quay in Penang.
Came to Ipoh and struggled to find an open local bar , so headed to Healey Mac’s.
Firstly , the food was fine ; just like Straits Quay.
Ordered a pint of Carlsberg which arrived in a tapered glass which DEFINITELY wasn’t a full pint.
Gently said to the lady bar staff that the picture on the menu showed a “proper” pint glass , which she told me was actually a half pint.
Pretty sure I know what’s a pint , a half and a schooner !!!!
So you’re NOT getting a full pint , the staff assume any big glass is actually a pint and are confused on glass sizes.
The beer is full on tourist prices ( their choice ) but can’t help feeling ripped off and would do better to get 3x big bottles in a Macon place for 50rm.
Try not to rip off the tourists …..
Don’t blame the staff as they simply don’t know but a Pint is a specific quantity not another “ House Pour”

Food was ok. But only ok. The Irish lamb stew was suboptimal. Overloaded with rosemary so could hardly taste the lamb. Potatoes and large chunks of carrots were al dente. The sour dough bread turned out to be two slices of ‘toast’. Why would you advertise it as bread and not toast? I have my own thoughts on that. And there was no where near enough of it. I had to ask for a knife to spread the insufficient rock hard frozen butter that came with it. Just as well as I was then able to chop the potatoes and carrots up. Other half had the club sandwich which she thought was ok. Drinks were ridiculously expensive in my opinion, even for Malaysia. Customer service wasn’t great. The person serving our table was nice, but when she went on a break the other staff were just not interested. Think the bar is set up more for serving well healed locals than tourists. I won’t be going back. Oh and if you’re thinking of going there to watch sports? If it’s not a Malaysian linked sport, don’t bother.

We always look for an Irish bar when travelling. We found 2 in Ipoh. St Patrick’s and Healy Macs.
Both bars were disappointing.
You would never know Healy Macs was an Irish bar except for the fact they advertise it.
None of the staff were Irish and didn’t try to have a conversation with you (like a true Irish bar).
The Guinness wasn’t poured properly as it had lots of bubbles rather than a shamrock.
The bar is nice, the staff are friendly, the Guinness is ok.
Nothing special.
Please get some Irish staff to create the Irish atmosphere which is what we want when we go to an Irish bar abroad

Highly disappointed with this place. One pint of Kilkenny roughly around RM36 after service charge and everything. And their service is awful. Ordered grilled chicken and waited almost 1 hour and yet didn't arrive. I noticed no one ordered food at that time yet dont knw why took them so long to prepare my food. I need to followed up with them for few time about my food and by the time the food wanted to arrive which is after 1 hour , I cancelled the food and paid only for the beer. At that time the person in charged offered me the food for free but I declined. At that point, I loss my appetite to eat! Terrible service. Not recommended!

2. Curry mee with chicken comes in huge chunk. The taste is NOT consistent.

5. Drinks very satisfactory but on the food side alot of homework needs to be done

My go-to for after-work drinks. Wait staff like Ms Baljit and Marwan know my order as I walk in. When I bring friends along they are always well looked after. Always good recommendations for drinks but never pushy. The drinks are always good value.
This is one of the few places in Ipoh you can get a beer before 5pm.

Once again I was never disappointed with the alluting ambience and ever pleasant staff attending to each finishing mug. The food tasted better then ever with fresh produce. Ramesh, the Manager welcomes with a warm greeting and a comforting smile, which makes you forget how you have drunk or how much you should not spend....again, thanks goodness the Ipoh branch is open. Well done.

Having been away in Scotland for the last 7 months I missed the ambiance of Healy Macs. So myself and my wife Valerie had lunch there.
Glad to report it's still fantastic!!
I had the sweet and sour whilst my wife had her favourite the pork knuckles. Delicious!! The Irish pubs in Scotland are no where near the standard of Healy Macs. They need to send their chiefs to be trained by Litha. It's no wonder that Healy Macs was awarded the best Irish pub outside of Ireland.
With the Corona-virus, Steve and Ramesh do an excellent job in ensuri that SOP are being properly conducted.
In short - glad to be back, excellent food (well done Litha) and great service by Steve, Ramesh and crew.

I'd love to visit the place again. You can go with your friends, family, partner or whosoever you wish to. Do try their famous cocktails. Besides, the manager Mr. Ramesh is a very nice person to interact with.
