The restaurant is located in the heritage old town area and can be easily identified; as there is always a long queue outside the restaurant. The food is great and very cheap which is comparable to those street food stalls in the old town. In order to avoid the queue go during off peak but the restaurant only operates from 9 am to 2:30 pm and then 6 pm to 8:30pm.

On the 1st night we turned up about 8pm to dine to be told it was closing, much to out disappointment. The next night we went at 6.30 and had to wait about 40 minutes for a table, but I was well worth the wait. Food is great and good sized portions.

Our dinner at Tek Sen was excellent. We arrived at 5:30pm for an early dinner, and good thing we did! As soon as we were seated we saw the queue become very lengthy in a hurry. We had the daily prawn special as well as sweet and sour chicken, both of which we ate every bite. The prawns were a little pricey, but were the size of a baby's fist- so good. Don't be surprised if you are seated with others at a shared table if you are a couple, as the staff fills every seat to serve as many guests as possible- this can be fun and lead to some unexpected conversation. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Georgetown, Tek Sen does not disappoint!

I came here many times but on a recent trip, the experience made me decide not to come again. It was drizzling when I reached Tek Sen and there was a crowd of people queuing outside. Unlike what other reviewers mentioned, there was no queue number given and people were just standing around randomly. Some stood in the rain (like me) while some (who came after me) were invited to sit and wait under shelter. After awhile, it seemed clear that the female staff whom I informed I was dining solo was not keen on serving me as she focused mainly on the larger groups, giving them the menu and taking their orders. I will not be coming back. They obviously are doing so well they don't need any more business.

This was an amazing find. Initially put off by the queues but was then told about the system of collecting a playing card (4 clubs was mine) and then sitting while deciding on the menu. The lady organising this seeming chaos was cross between a school mistress and a referee and created quite a theatrical performance! The food was delicious particularly the steamed fish and red snapper. People we spoke too had been there many times and kept returning. If you are a couple and prepared to share a larger table you might be able to skip the queue. Worth waiting.

After asking a number of locals where to find the best Chinese food, and without hesitation, and multiple times, being told Tek Sen, we made our way, expecting a long wait for a table but did not need to wait at all. The food was delicious, the home made fried tofu with prawns was amazing - the texture and flavour of this fish was perfect. We had several other dishes - prawns with tamarind, twice cooked pork belly, and a stir/ fried green with chilli and prawns and they were all lovely. Busy, but still a fun atmosphere

This restaurant has now been well established and is renowned for its "choo char" (or food cooked to order). However, the restaurant takes no reservation and if you are patient, join the long queue and wait. Most dished are excellent. Order any dish from the menu and you won't be disappointed. For dinner, be there at around 5 p.m. This restaurant accepts cash and cards. Fortunately, there is a pay car park right next to it. The restaurant is not air-conditioned and the dining area is clean. I visited the restaurant before the COVID lock down.

We visited this restaurant recently and happy that we managed to make a reservation 2 weeks in advance for 8 adults and 1 child at noon time. The Restaurant opens at 12 pm but it was already packed when we arrived earlier! We got our table and ordered 8 different food dishes and be aware: to select the size when ordering as the portion is not big. At the end, we all enjoyed our lunch at this Authentic home-cooked Cantonese food Restaurant at very affordable prices. The downside is that we need to wait for at least an hour for our food as the restaurant is fully booked and even many walk-in customers are willing to Que in the rain too!. Whilst the ambiance is not anything fancy, it is worth the visit to Tek Sen Restaurant in George Town, awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2023.

Good location in the heart of Georgetown in Lebuh Carnarvon street. It's worth waiting for 30 minutes or more for lunch or dinner. The Kankung with sambal and shrimps and doubleroasted pork with chilipadi was just delicious, almost out of this world. I went there again and again and enjoyed every minutes. You can't be in town without visiting Tek Sen.

Lovely tze char food. Really good. I really like the been sprouts with salted fish. The salted fish aroma (not salty just flavour) was like truffle exploding in my mouth. It was great! Also liked the belly pork and I actually like all the dishes.

This place is going to be my official dining table every day until I leave Malaysia. Tonight we ordered the salt and pepper squids, the pork belly specialty and the chicken in Thai sauce... A.m.a.z.i.n.g. ♡ Don't hesitate to go!

A favourite of ours in Georgetown. Fantastic Chinese food, at very affordable prices, with dishes that we don’t see in restaurants here (Australia). The menu has a lot of options, with much to explore. The restaurant is full of local diners as well as visitors who are prepared to queue up for up to an hour to get seated. Service is super-efficient and the restaurant buzzes with happy customers. A tip - get there by at least 5.15 to be towards the head of the queue. Menus are available at the entrance to the restaurant which gives time to narrow down the choices of what to order on your first visit, and what to try out the next time…… and the next time.

You will be blown away by the food! This is coming from someone who breathes and lives from chinese food :D Don’t expect much from the ambience and the service, come here for the food. You won’t regret it. Order the chilli padi pork, sambal kailan, and thai sauce chicken. Thank me later! :)

By the time we got here it's already full, luckily the queue was short. We were taken to our table after 5 minutes wait. I admitted the food was amazing. Tofu, veggie, soup, everything we had was delicious. Place was too noisy, and fan was too much for me, it gave me a bit headache. It's a popular destination for Chinese food, so make sure you don't miss it. I suggest you try Curry stingray fish.

Went over for lunch. Waited about 15mins for a table, didn't wait very long for the food though. Ordered the assam grouper fish, crispy pork and signature tofu. I must say the fish and crispy pork is nice but nothing to rave about. The signature tofu on the other hand is quite nice, very smooth and silky. For the price, I would say it is not very cheap to pay MYR87 for 3dishes for 2pax as the serving is really just enough for 2. Good to try if there is no queue.
