About
Kebaya is the dining room of the Seven Terraces and is open to hotel guests and the public. Open daily, 6pm till 10pm. Christopher Ong has worked with the hotel’s chefs to create a menu of a new approach to Classic Straits Chinese Nyonya dishes. They have refined these using French cooking techniques and innovative products to deliver surprising new twists on this already fascinating cuisine. The effect is simple, delicious full of flavor and dazzling. A four-course degustation menu of entrée, mains, vegetables and dessert is served in Chinese 'family-style' to allow guests to share the dishes.

It’s located inside Seven Terrace hotel building. Available on set lunch and dinner. Nice ambience, fine dining (casual dress code) with Chinese and colonial style, grand antiques stuff. Wine and drinks are available, bar with colonial style. Friendly and helpful staffs, ask recommendation from menu and the explanation from waiters or Sahrul, the Manager. Tasty awesome food, especially Hong Bak Lamb, Fish, Prawn but all food we ordered are tasty too. Very recommended!

we have visited Kebaya , Seven Terracces two times for dine in, before MCO and after being vaccinated. In the time between we had four orders for take-away set menu. Take-away in metal tiffin, not cheap plastic containers was a complete eye opener. Dine in, staff very friedly, even rembers whether vegetarian or meat choice on last take away. Delicious Nyonya food, servings very generous. Always a treat to dine there. we will come again.

I’ve been visiting Kebaya Dining since 2017 and my family and friends have all enjoyed their dining experience. Just last week, my girlfriend and I were visiting Penang and we went to Kebaya on our final night. I was delighted when the Kebaya Dining team accommodated my early Valentine's Day arrangement. Really appreciate it! Thank you for the authentic Peranakan experience. I look forward to my next visit when I’m in Penang again.

My husband and I, traveling to Penang for the first time, were recommended Kebaya by a friend living in Penang this past weekend. This restaurant far exceeded our expectations. The warm greeting we received upon entering by Dinesh (who periodically checked on us throughout the evening), the delicious drinks (both mocktails & cocktails) served up by Gungu and the outstanding service (and menu advice) provided by June, made for an absolutely perfect evening... and this is before mentioning the food. Living in Singapore, our food standards are fairly high, and I can say this was the best dinner we've had in over a year. The prawn dish (which I almost didn't order) was the shining star of the evening (thank you June, for convincing me to try!), and I would say a must for all who visit. None of the 6 dishes & 3 desserts we ordered fell short, all were fantastic, but I am still dreaming of the prawns. This restaurant is an absolute must for all traveling to Penang. It is housed in a lovely row of shophouses that are actually a hotel. The area is charming, the shophouses are beautiful, and the restaurant is very memorable in atmosphere, decor, service and food. If we had had a chance to eat there a 2nd time in our long weekend, we certainly would have. If we return to Penang, it is sure to be a first stop.

This is the second time we visited this lovely restaurant and this time we brought our family from different part of the world so that they could share our experience. We were staying at the Seven Terraces and it was a nice short walk downstairs to our venue. The place was simply amazing with the traditional decorations and ambience taking us back in time. It’s a testament to the owner’s vision. Our party of 12 was seated at the far end of the restaurant along the long table with the added privacy. The waitstaff were friendly and knowledgeable; they provided some helpful advice on our food selection of the set sharing menu. Food was divine and serving portion was generous, letting us experience the various Nonya cuisines with an elevated touch. This gave us an insight into the glorious Perenakan history. I would recommend to add this place to visit for your Penang experience. It had proven to be memorable each time.

We booked through the restaurant website. There was some confusion as to whether they open for lunch on Fridays (they don't although their website says they do). In the end we went for Friday dinner. The first sitting is 6pm. The second sitting is 8pm. We arrived a little early to have a cocktail before dinner at the bar area. The building is a beautiful traditional peranakan dining room and hotel (The Seven Terraces). The menu has 4 or 5 choices per course and a vegetable course. We explained my partner's nut allergy and the dishes that may be affected were pointed out so he could choose something nut free. The food is traditional peranakan dishes and beautifully prepared. Very tasty. The portions were very generous and the rice "free-flowing". We couldn't manage dessert! The setting is stunning and the service impeccable which created a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy such delicious food.

As part of our stay at The Seven Terraces Hotel we had one evening meal at their restaurant Kebaya-having read the trip adviser reviews. It certainly did not disappoint- the food was delicious especially the sea bass starter. June our waitress couldn't have been any more attentive and recommended the beef which my husband said was lovely. She also recommended the prawns- delicious too. Definitely would go back there and the hotel if travel to Penang again.

The 3 course dinner in Kebaya is amazing. My husband and I are here for our honeymoon getaway and am really glad we chose this place vs other fine dining places. The starter otak2 is special with the crispy puffs and the sauce is so good! For our main course, seabass was grilled to perfection and lamb was extremely soft and tender. We really enjoyed the vege masak lemak too, gravy was great. For desserts, we really enjoyed the pengat panna cotta, and the tang yuen. Loved the ambience and service too. The waiters are very helpful and friendly. They even served us complimentary dessert because we're on our honeymoon. Will come back again. Dont expect a traditional meal and be pleasantly surprised!

A must try if you are staying at Seven Terraces or even if you are not. Unfortunately for the restaurant, lots of people book & then don't show up. That makes it hard to get a reservation for people who genuinely want to eat here & also hurts the business. Just like at Seven Terraces, the staff were amazing & I extend particular thanks to Dinesh who waited on us. The food was excellent & the atmosphere of the restaurant is dripping with old world charm. Highly recommend

Fine dining Peranakan (Fusion) . If you’re expecting an Authentic Peranakan Meal ; you’ll be disappointed . We ordered the following dishes from the set menu : pie tee , otak puff , beef buah keluak , braised duck , sayor lemak , sambal egg plant & yang yuan . Hits - otak puff; braised duck ; sayor lemak Misses - pie tee ; beef buah keluak ; sambal egg plant and yang yuan Service was ok ; could have been more attentive The ambiance was wonderful. The Quality of the food did not justify the price

How glad we are that we decided to eat here and get a taste of fine authentic Peranakan cuisine. The restaurant is in the Seven Terraces Hotel, a boutique hotel in a 19th century heritage mansion so has all the atmosphere of that era. It's fine dining without being overly formal. We began with chicken satay and Otak Ota (sea bass cooked in puff pastry) followed by sticky plum duck legs, prawn geng (curry), sambal goreng and green mango salad; we felt we made a small mistake here of taking up the waiter's suggestion of adding soft shell crab to the salad - it really didn't enhance the meal and rather detracted from the freshness of the salad. That being said, everything was simply mouth-wateringly delicious and beautifully presented. The only pity was we just couldn't find room for a dessert! Highly recommended for a special night out in George Town.

The food was amazing. I know Penang food was good. But I didn’t know it was THISSSS good. My mother who don’t even eat Wagyu beef, ate the beef here. My sister who don’t usually eat duck or prawns, are them all up. Staff was friendly and nice. But man, food stole the show. The interior was a throw back to the old school Chinese era.

Been to this establishment a number of times in the past. Post C, after the long break it has evolved into a refined version of its own self. Always a challenge to serve Nyonya cuisine in one of the cities where it all started. The impressive thing for me is the Chef’s ability to maintain the integrity of each Dish whilst allowing the Dishes to evolve into their own distinctive identity. We had dined as a small group and attended a Wedding reception here a week later. The quality did not waver nor differ with the fact that they had maximum capacity to cater for. Amazing feat-Chef Zac & Team, Shyarul & Team.

Ate here last evening & felt compelled to leave a review as we had a truly excellent meal. My husband ordered the fragrant prawn curry which I thought would be a bit dull but it was delicious and scored 11 out of 10! I had the beef with tamarind which was also good and the starters and desserts we chose were beautifully cooked and presented as well but the prawn curry was the outright winner - you need to try it!

Dined here on a Sunday night so we didn't experience the hustle and bustle and atmosphere of their busier evenings, but nevertheless we both enjoyed the room, food and staff. We had the 3 course set menu which featured the famed Penang Nyonya food which was delicious. Good night, well recommend
