Friendly staff, reasonable priced drinks (can't comment on food as we haven't stopped to eat). Great place to stop and escape from the heat of the day, good wi-fi too. The place is very spacious, cool and nicely decorated in a very quirky style.

I went in for happy hour and left at 3:00am. A good crowd locals & visitors alike not too many freeloading back packer types thankfully. Staff attentive & polite. DJ got the girls dancing. Not the cheapest place to drink however i considered it worth it.

I only had one item here....Laksa. They had many varieties but I chose the one they had that nobody else did....crab laksa. It was delectable. I almost licked the bowl. I had a mint iced tea also which was great. This place somehow didn't make the laksa lists I saw but I thought it was excellent!

Thank you very much WanderingRedheadCher for your 5 star rating. We are most happy to know that you enjoyed the crab laksa. Indeed it is our signature dish and unique to our restaurant group only. We did not make it to the laksa list because the list features only hawker (street food) places. We offer very good quality laksa in... More

I thought this place was beautiful and well run. There was a good choice of tea and if you read the menu carefully they do free refills!

Spacious with a great selection of tea. They do way more than that. Food menu looked good. Offers a range of alcoholic drinks. My iced tea was lovely.

Located within the boutique hotel Chulia Court Tavern, in a touristy budget travellers area, it has an interesting range of famous local dish called Laksa. Laksa is a fish soup cooked in spices and coconut, thick broth served with noodles and vegetables. The tamarind (assam) version is sour spicy kind of an intense version of Tom Yam and the Lemak... They make the best coffee in Penang and it's a great place to sit and relax. The staff are super and stopping for breakfast is perfect. It's open all day and we'll worth a visit

Thank you Every H for your visit. Well if you found us to be a nice place surely there is a price tag to it. All the other surrounding places are either roadside hawker stalls or dives therefore not comparable. Penang is no longer a dirt cheap place that many backpackers expect. Sorry to disappoint you but that's just the... More

I will admit to 2 pints of beer, however, the food is good, as is the service. We did try the crab laksa and the char kouay teow and they were excellent, a delicious lunch was had by both of us.

Lunch at Chulia Court was a memorable experience because of its excellent food, warm service and cosy ambience which is perfect for tete-a-tetes, business meetings or just for hanging out. For starters, we had satay which was tender, succulent and tasty. Portions are generous and can be a meal by itself. The marinade for the meat was a delightful blend,... More

Description
Welcome to Chulia Court The Tavern, one of the best adaptations of a heritage shop-house for a restaurant, music bar and boutique guesthouse situated in the heart of Unesco World Heritage City of Georgetown. We serve lunch and dinner with a full bar that opens daily from 12noon. Our 8 guest rooms with ensuite bathrooms are tastefully furnished and affordable. Enjoy a drink and dance to the swaying beats of the ground floor bar with our resident DJ spinning up-to-date and retro hits nightly on weekends, or live-band performances on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays, or savour of a meal at the ground-floor cafe/restaurant in a heritage setting adorned by rare Peranakan embroidery, ancestral portraits, period furniture, and vibrant colours of the Baba Nyonya culture mixed with an eclectic European influence that will leave you spellbound. Our theme is dedicated to the love of Peranakan Heritage, Chinoiserie and an eclectic mix of European influences. We celebrate with whimsical contrasts of colours on our walls and decor, characterized by the use of fanciful imagery of fantastical China mixed in with our simple passion for bits of retro. While we distract you with movement and lively colours like turquoise, pink, magenta, orange and yellow, let it not take you away from our equally welcoming offers of our menu. Hailing from the Netherlands, Chef Mathijs Nanne specialises in European cuisine, using a wide array of local herbs and spices that create a unique blend of flavours. We are 22,000 square feet, one of the very few properties on Lebuh Chulia with a private car park for house guests and diners. You may be in the mood for a coffee, cold beer, cocktail or wine but whatever it is drop by for a visit and get to know us better. You may not know this but Penangites believe music was born on our streets. We offer a Jazz Bar dishing out Jazz, Blues, Broadway and Retro favourites. We also have a resident DJ on weekends who spins dance tunes that will make you tap your feet or dance the night away, let DJ Shan take you away. If you prefer to chillax in the Peranakan Lounge or watch the world go by on the street side al fresco we will let you. Whatever the mood you are in, Chulia Court will make it a unique experience for you, your family or friends.
