We were in Penang looking for some Penarakan cuisine and we hit the jackpot. Beautiful interiors & excellent service. We ordered the Lemuni Rice, the Lentil Rice and the Briyani. Everything was amazing especially the lemuni rice, havent quite had anything like it. The Arabian sherbet was unusual, and the colonial lemon tart was to die for. Loved the entire... More

The main thing I loved about this place is the ambience. It's very rich in culture and peaceful. The food served is different as it is influenced by the Jawi Peranakan cooking style. The aroma itself will tickle our taste buds and give us the perfect appetite. Great choice of place to experience culturally rich food and atmosphere.

Food is unique here, their main objective is to promote the culinary heritage of 200 years of Peranakan Muslims and Tanjumg Malays of Georgetown. Located in main tourist spot in a lovely old townhouse with beautiful decoration . Dish not to be missed 'Jawi briyani', aromatic basmati rice with herbs and spices. We had it with grilled prawns and another... More

We went there during dinner time while it was raining heavily. The restaurant was almost full fortunately we could get a good seat. Atmosphere is friendly. Since the place is traditional they don't serve alcohol - tea is very nice. We tried mint and ginger. Starters were Hummus and mango salad. Hummus was served warm - which I never experienced... When you do not feel like having any more street food, Jawi House would be the best option. Good food, nice people, feels like eating with the family. Hummus is a must, also nice meals as well as delicious deserts..

Why eat anywhere else when you can enjoy the ambience and wonderfully prepared food at Jawi House Cafe? Even the side salads that came with the quiche and sandwiches were excellent. And the yoghurt cheese cake made a great finish to the meal.

My husband and I were divided over the best bits of the meal - he loved the babaganoush, I thought the hummus was to die for. I refused to share my Bamieh lamb stew, but he had eyes for nothing but his beef rendang. So all in all, no complaints here! I was really surprised that it was almost empty... More

Good food and great service. The chicken curry is bone-in chicken. The chef is very friendly and extremely humble.

We truly enjoyed our lunch. Great ambience! Having done a lot of walking in tt area, hunting for the street art, we deserved that yummy plates of rice. My family of 6 ordered different types of 'nasi' - nasi tomato, nasi lamuni, nasi kerabu, etc. Good food - simply syiok. And the Sago Gula Melaka was superb!

We ate a banquet here - it was very tasty with a wide-ranging buffet available. It doesn't serve alcohol but does serve some unusual and very sweet non-alcoholic drinks!
