I've eaten here on a number of occasions because the food is delicious - local Jawi Peranakan dishes. It's set in a lovely relaxed atmosphere, in a beautifully renovated Georgetown house. Staff are extremely polite, friendly and helpful. I've taken family and friends here for...lunch and dinner. If you like good quality local dishes, you won't be disappointed. Good to note however, they do not serve alcohol.More

Interesting mix of foodstyles. India meets malaysia. Quality is high of food and price rather low. Be aware no alcohol is served here!

Just WOW! We were there on monday night (make sure to have a reservation, otherwise there will be no tables left). We tried something we never had before (vegetarian and beef pendang), and it was all so flavourful! Defenitely worth that it's (a little bit)...more expensive. Very friendly staff and the chef came out to eloborate on the food. Loved it!More

Had high expectations having read the reviews, visited the website and saw the TripAdvisor ranking of #10. Chose to share the green mango kerabu. Delightful, tangy sweet crisp and crunch. Jawi Bamieh (mutton on the menu/lamb on the website) was disappointing. Tomato sauce/gravy was non-complex...in flavour, just an oily meaty broth really and only luke warm, and the okra was al dente and tasteless. Mutton (4 small pieces) was tough and chewy, and I needed to ask for a knife. Sadly the Roti served with it was white toast. I had hoped the meat and juices would have indicated a slow marination but no evidence there. My wife ate Jawi laksa lemak, which she enjoyed even though it was served luke warm too. Arabian Sherbet drink was beautiful and sago pudding lovely too. A lot of info and hype about the chef and owner’s passion, his origins and family prowess, in the menu and on website which may have falsely skewed my expectations? So sadly this ranks as our poorest meal during our 5 day stay in Georgetown.More

The food here was delicious and in a lovely setting. The Jawi mix of Arab/Indian Muslim/Malay creates a cuisine that is different from the Nyona restaurants- very complex and tasty. We did not have enough time but wanted to go back to try all the...menu items we did not get to the first time. The staff was nice and accommodating. No alcohol but a great kombucha menu. Highly recommend!More

Really nice quiet spot. Cuisine mostly nyonya which is local merging of ethnic influences Ask for normal spices and heat if you can tolerate as the full flavour is realized

We had the roti, Armenian salad, fried chicken, shrimp biryani, caramel pudding cake, and sago. The curries are excellent and all the food was delicious. Superb staff and we felt appreciated. Definitely recommend for dinner.

Top-notch dishes cooked in a unique homestyle and served in a delicate way. The combination of ingredients is very smart, it results into a truly impressive dining experience. The combination of tofu with peanut sauce in the “Cucur udang” dish deserves a special mention! The...place feels authentic and genuinely hospitable. It’s exquisite but without any posh details. The prices are surprisingly moderate, especially if you take into account the unique style of cooking and that the dishes simply delicious.More

Lovely restaurant, very small so advise to reserve in advance. We had the Roti Surai to start with which was delicious and my fave meal. Then we had the chicken biryani, mutton masala and the lemuni rice. Loved all the flavours and all meals were...very good and tasty, albeit the mutton was a bit tough. Really nice place, good staff, reasonably priced and clean.More

What can I say about Jawi House Cafe Gallery? What an absolutely amazing dinner our family had in the restaurant! Exquisite subtle flavours that delighted my tastebuds. From the beautiful mango salad to the Jawi Biryani, the well braised Mutton that melted in your mouth,...to the Three Vegetarian Dishes and so on. Every dish was a delight to behold ( & eat!). The ambience of dining in the well-renovated "Coffee Shop" brings back nostalgic memories of the old Penang I love and grew up in. Congrats to Chef Nuri and his wife Julie for bringing good Peranakan food to the table. A very bright and promising future for Jawi House. Thank you.More

It's a very nice and peaceful cafe tucked away on bustling Lebuh Armenian Street. You can either dit in a shade outside or inside the nice room. The food is penang-specific as it is coming from an hindi-malay ancestry. Jawi-peranakan it's called. It is really...delicious and well presented. We went their twice - day one for a lunch and day 5 for a full dinner and we loved both.More

Maaf saya tak pasti. Elok call dan tanya. Tempatnya tak besar, kalau setakat 20 orang untuk birthday dan campur 10 orang luar another maybe cukup di groudfloor. Best is to call and ask for private arrangement.
