Gala house is a terrific, casual dining restaurant with delicious food and an attractive corner location. [My favorite - clams in garlic broth] There's lots to love on their small, careful crafted menu. Plus, a smart, helpful staff and a relaxed vibe that beckons you to stay longer. Love sitting street-side. Highly recommend.

Let down by the hotel we were staying in for New Year, we found this small restaurant. We had a lovely meal and very reasonable - Caesar Salad, Chicken Burger & Sea Bass. Only a shame we found this on our last night.

If you are a posing lycra-lizard cyclist who likes paying stupid prices for coffee just because it is made with almond milk & you can post it on your social media, then this place is right up your alley. If you are a normal person who appreciates that there is good food in Penang at reasonable prices, then you'll avoid this place. The kaya on my croissant was spread so thinly it was barely perceptible. Go somewhere better

Three lunchtime diners. I could tell the young lad serving us was, to put it as generously as I can, away with the fairies so I made it very clear: one tandoori chicken wrap and TWO (complemented with polite two-finger signal) fish n’ chips. There were, after all, THREE of us. Lo and behold, one chicken wrap and one fish n’ chips arrived. I can tolerate people with small brains, but only if they bother to use them. He didn’t even confirm the order back to me or double check. And so we had to wait for the third plate. Fish was underseasoned and low quality. Tandoori chicken wasn’t great either, but probably the best fish. Young girl working in the kitchen was polite and courteous. Accompanying salads came with sesame dressing / the most flavour to be found on the table, but a mismatch with the food. Mayonnaise dip requested with chicken wrap also forgotten about. WAKE UP!!!!!!

This small, unassuming café has a great menu and a fantastic chef. We have eaten here numerous times on our trips to Georgetown and we just keep going back. If you don't wish to eat at an outdoor table, there is now an air-conditioned room. It is not fancy, but the food is out of this world.

We spent a wonderful afternoon relaxing on bar stools being serviced by the lovely Yao who makes a mean Long Island Iced Tea, as well as the perfect Gin & Tonic with lime! Great spot to sit and watch the world go by, chat with the lovely Yao, who has great English and is very informative on both Malaysia and Thailand. We didn't eat here as its predominantly western food and we weren't in Georgetown for that. Our beautiful hotel was at the end of the lane about 2 minutes walk from Gala. All in all a lovely evening with reasonably priced drinks and great service!

Having read the previous reviews we sought out this restaurant which is close to the Blue Mansion. We weren’t disappointed the food was excellent and very reasonably priced, it was so good we ate there twice in our four night stay in Penang.

Stumbled on this amazing Bar and restaurant. To start it is a great place to watch the world go by as situated on a corner. Suechang is the most polite kind waiter that greats you. We started with wine just to sit , it was a fabulous Chile Sav Blanc which surprised us , so good we decided to stay for dinner , which we chose the table on the street corner for passing entertainment , guess what the food was fabulous . Came back the following night for the Sav Blanc . Then tonight to explore their menu more , WOW , almost fine dining with attention to flavour marrying And Pricing is ridiculously reasonable !! We were served by Yao who was lovely and helpful PS atmosphere is serene

We ordered the fish and chips. Just fancied something from home. WOW, it was good. Two pieces of fish (not sure what fish), beer battered and served with lovely chips and a nice little salad with tartare sauce.

Located in George Town which was very convenient for us. The food was so excellent that we kept eating here until the day we left. The price was very affordable compared to usual restaurant prices, and everything tasted just delicious!!!

I came here with a group of girls and by the end of the meal, we all agreed that the food was very good. I had the creamy chicken with mashed potatoes, which had a very full, savoury flavour with just the right amount of seasoning. I also had some of the fries, garlic bread and creamy potato salad... all very good by western standards. If you are not a huge fan of the local cuisine, or malaysian food in general, this would be a good stop to get a familiar western meal that won't disappoint. I will say though, that the food took a very long time to come out so I suggest going before you are actually feeling hungry. We did request that we get some bread while we waited (we were all starving by the time we arrived), but the waitstaff essentially said that everything was queued and that she couldn't just get a loaf of bread & butter for our table. This is typically behaviour in Malaysia but was still a bit irritating. They did make our fries and garlic bread first, before our entrees, so that we could eat that in the meantime, but even that took about 30 minutes to come out.

I had the kimchi salmon spaghetti upon the waiter’s recommendation. It was very nice - & quite unusual in its fusion taste, with generous amounts of salmon . Indeed an unassuming small restaurant with a good cosy ambience. Price? Not cheap; but not too expensive either. Happy to recommend the place as suitable for a cosy meal with friends.

I stopped in for a quick drink and ended up ordering dinner. I had the Penang Curry and it was fabulous! Service was great! They have a good happy hour too. You should definitely check it out!
