The shop opens at 12 and has its signature charcoal cooking for its char kuey teow. One has to ask oneself is the wait time worth the food. It takes around 1 hour wait for a plate of char kuey teow that does taste amazing....Be prepared to wait in a line that is hot and sweaty to enjoy a food that lasts less than 10 minutesMore

I was lucky to arrive when there was no wait (which I’d read about), and picked up Char Kway to take away for RM8.50. Opening the packed meal back up at my hotel room, it was still hot and delicious. It was my first time...for Char Kway and had a Pad Thai flavours. Loved how the food was prepared fresh and on the style of stove. Very authentic feel.More

This place already is the icon on Penang street food. Dined on 5 Nov two people around 5 pm. Parked at the open car park across the street. After waiting 35 minutes on queue we enjoyed two char kuay Teow that cooked on charcoal ,...Made with most traditional way. It was divine. Shi fu was nice enough to remove pork from the recipe of our order. It was full of fine smoke flavour with intense taste. Must go anytime.More

Long wait: I’ve read of the long queues so we reached at 11.55am (ahead of 12pm opening) but we were already at the back of the queue. The owners were still setting up at 12pm, getting the charcoal ready etc so they didn’t start cooking...till later. There’s only a physical queue system, so one person had to wait at the seat while the other stood for a good 1.5h, the wait would’ve been better if we were both seated. We only got our food 1.5h later, and those queueing has the CKT smell stuck on them the whole day. We noticed the queue shortening around 1.30pm, so I would advise you to come past the usual lunch hour. Food review: The CKT had a good wok hey taste to it which I didn’t find in other stalls, so I have to say this was one of the better tasting ones around. But overall, the long wait killed the anticipation and novelty of trying the famed char kway teow.More

I visited the famous Siam Road char koay teow and ordered a plate of koay teow. The koay teow was well fried over a charcoal fire. Although the stall opened at noon, there was a long queue at 11.30 am. The koay teow contained cockle...shells, egg, koo chye and chinese sausage. The black sauce was fragrant and I waited one hour for my food. It was value for money and I will come back for more one day.More

according to the locals, there is one corner coffee shop where usually the diner will sit in and eat gives a good indicator. if the shop closed, means it is also uncle's rest day. proven once to me on 31/8/2017(Thurs).
