Outdoor food court, near the Blue Mansion, where you can find various stalls with different dishes and dishes.
For drinks, there are waiters who come by to ask you what you want, in the center of the place there is a sign where the prices of the drinks are. (water, soft drinks, beer and juices available)
There is also a small stage so they also do live music but I don't know when because I left at around 9pm.
I recommend it for the very nice environment.
There is also a stand where they make typical pancakes with chopped peanuts which I highly recommend!
Very few vegetarian options

A great location to try lots of different food, relaxed and welcoming with both tourists and locals eating. Pictures and prices displayed so grab a table, order what you want from the counters and wait for it to arrive freshly cooked.
The crispy Chinese pancakes were amazing, worth the wait and highly recommended.

This is a place that has suffered a bit from the COVID down-turn for businesses, but still has a large number of independent stalls operating.
Dishes are a good example of the range of local street food that reflect the wonderful multicultural mix of Penang. It is a very popular place for locals and despite its large area can quickly fill up by mid-evening.
You need to find a free table and then order from any stall, and give the number of your table. While you wait for dishes to arrive, roving staff will come and take drink orders.
Food is cheap, and tasty, and the atmosphere is bustling with a number of multi-generational families enjoying food together. It is a good place for individuals, couples or groups. On various evenings there is also musical entertainment, which adds to the positive energy.

This place where you can eat local food is located in Georgetown.
We enter a large covered square filled with plastic tables and chairs. All around are food stalls where you can find something for all tastes: Malaysian, Thai, Chinese, etc.
All you have to do is choose your table, look at the number, order your food at each stand and they will bring the food to your table. It's very easy to taste a little bit of everything.
We decided to only taste typical Malaysian dishes. Everything was very good, so typical and really tasty. We advise you to taste the famous ais kachang (ice cream with beans, fruits, coulis and other undetermined foods) available at this place. The atmosphere is excellent, we have a great time surrounded by the local population and tourists. There is a stage where local artists perform.
Excellent value for money. So typical of Malaysia, not to be missed if you are in Penang.

We ate here 4x during our 5 day stay in george town.
The place seemed clean for a hawker centre, it was relaxing especially with the music playing. Food was delicious. I highly recommend the fried lemon grass chicken from the Thai place in the far left corner and also the sweet pancakes made by the friendliest boss man ( my favorite was the banana chocolate). Wash everything down with a refreshing coconut drink ( make sure you get a spoon so you can spoon out the coconut flesh)

It’s really tough to find food in the evenings in Penang. You’re better off if you usually skip dinnner. But for those who live near Jalan Penang you could make your way here which closes at midnight. The char Koay teow and wanton mee are decent. We had great frog leg porridge at the Hongkong food stall. Tried fried Malaysian noodles and stir fried hor fun at the Malaysian noodle stall but these were regretful decisions. This is like a large food court with a stage and live singing though it’s more like a Filipino band singing songs targeted at a 40s to 70s crowd. Still, a wise choice if you’re near and have no where to for dinner

We were lucky to have red garden right next to our hotel. Red garden has any type of food you could want. We tried Indian , Malay, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, all tasty, hot and fresh. The system works well with vendors bringing your freshly cooked food to your table, also a drinks person comes past from time to time. And cleaners are tidying and cleaning all the time. There is no single use plastic so all the dishes and cutlery are washed and reused. We went all 3 nights that we were in Georgetown, i only wish we had same place in Melbourne!

We ended up going to this place for 3 of the 5 nights we were in George Town. Lots of variety (but not if you're a vegetarian) with Chinese, Malay, Thai and Vietnamese stalls. You find yourself a table, you stroll around and find a stall you like, you order and give your table number, you go sit down and the food arrives when it's ready, you pay. Drinks are ordered from the vendors who walk around. It was cheap, clean and very tasty. And to further add to the enjoyment, there was live music every time we visited. I loved sitting there, sipping a beer, eating away and people watching.

Called in for a beer and some prawns after visiting the blue mansion next door. Was lovely atmosphere and the food was great, from the prawns to the dumplings.
I would say the prawns and fish although tasted amazing was a bit on the pricey side. Especially as they changed their mind after they had weighed them. But hey go can’t have everything.
The dumplings from another vendor were amazing and also tens evice from the beer assistant was top notch.
I would go back but would choose different vendors.

The food is great, there are so many different positions where you can choose dishes, all different cuisines, really fantastic and very tasty. The dumplings were delicious, there were several curries, meat dishes, desserts, fried banana is also recommended! And very cheap. And then there was live music. Was a very pleasant evening.

So much food choice, the later you go the better it is (10pm is good)
Traditional Curry Kitchen was by far our favourite place to eat. We got the salty crispy chicken, they added sauce if asked and it was the tastiest meal we had eaten yet in our 2 weeks in Malaysia. The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful and we would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone.
Live music the Saturday night.

A must visit! The range of foods on offer is vast so it’s easy to be a little overwhelmed during your first visit. However you can’t really go far wrong as everything we tried was incredible.
There are a range of offers from traditional
Penang dishes to Chinese, Vietnamese and most other South East Asian options.
I’d highly recommend the Satay’s!

What a good surprise ! This food court is surrounded by a myriad of small Asian gastronomy stands: Thailand, Malaysia, China (including Hong Kong), etc. The food is great and the atmosphere is great. I particularly recommend the chicken satay skewers at the starter!!!!

Authentic market with a great atmosphere. Dishes from many parts of the world are available, with a preference for Asian dishes. What we tried tasted very good. Later on, the atmosphere was even better with live music.

Between Upper Penang Road and Leith Street, just next to the Blue Mansion, is the 'Red Garden Food Paradise', a place full of hawker stalls similar to the 'Jetty Food Court', where I happened to be eating more often, but just out of coincidence.
The place here looks pleasant too, good to taste local food and more for a very reasonable price. The food one has ordered at the stall gets served at the table, which one has selected. While at the 'Jetty Food Court' everywhere Carlsberg beer is advertised, here it is Tiger beer.
Red about the 'Red Garden' are mainly the red plastic chairs (around round white tables) and the red lanterns. In the center is a stage for performances by musicians, singers, dancers, acrobats - something which cannot be found in the 'Jetty Food Court'.
For a late night bite cum dessert one can try a 'Ban Jiang Kuih', a sugary pancake filled with crushed peanuts, which gets advertised as 'Traditional Penang Snack'. The 'Red Garden' apparently was opened in 2007.
