The quality of food, especially combined with what they charge for it, make this excellent value. The ambiance (room, chairs) is simple, but what you get on your plate makes this a very worthwile place!

Ate here this evening, at the one that serves meat, I know there is a vegetarian one down the road too. We had the chicken butter masala, mutton dopiaza, rice, a garlic naan, a dosai, and 2 iced lemon. Also a mango lassi and cheese naan for baby. It was really good. Not too spicy (typical tourists ;)). The naan... More

The menu list was too long and confusing. The locals may know the specialities but tourists were lost. Service was peremptory - staff was not helpful and just interested in taking orders. We ordered mutton biryani and masala tosai. The mutton was well done and soft but the rest of the dishes were average. However I enjoyed the masala tea... More

This simple Indian restaurant is really good and cheap . Portions are huge and the quality of food is great . We love their curry. Staff very nice and friendly . Don't miss it if you love Indian food , full of options for vegans

We ended up here for a vegetarian meal with my in-laws which would not be MY first choice but I have to say that the vegetarian Indian food at this place was really very good. We shared 4 dishes between 4 people, each had a piece of naan and that was plenty of food. They were served in metal cone... More

It was a Buddhist vegetarian feast/fast day and we set out to look for the Macalister Road branch but my stepfather didn't have the address so we ended up here. It's a typical Indian restaurant in an old building, so don't expect much atmosphere other than something authentically local. Food (vegetarian) is very good Good value too. Rather warm, stuffy... Very understated ambience. Actually none at all. However, the dining areas on both floors were crowded with local people who were there for the food. We decided to dine on the second floor. A bit cooler and less hectic. The waitress was extremely helpful and friendly. She treated us as though we were regulars. I ordered the mutton butter masala... More

Very simple place, but very popular. We found out why. Food is excellent. Have no idea what we ordered, but got good suggestion from the waiter. Very good food. From outside this place is nothing special. Choose from the inside. Price level low. High value for the money.

I would like to rate this restaurant a zero but I can't seem to. We visited Ananda Bahwan twice in two days and on both days the food was of very bad quality. The first day we were there for a short tea break and tried their 'boli'. It was cold and rubbery and ate. Despite telling the staff they... More
