Somewhat of a local institution in these parts. Malay cuisine dialed up a notch. Tasty and with a bit of drama but lacking substance as the food was average at best. This is where the sum of their parts don't make a whole. I had...the grilled fish. it was done well. nothing out of the ordinary. It came with flavourless blue rice which seemed more for decoration than a proper accompaniment. There was also other accompaniments served in a congkak - nice touch, but more for the drama than purposeful side dishes to go with the rest of the meal. The ambience is pleasant and service was excellent. Overall, it was a an ok experience. I would certainly come back to entertain friends.More

Food was tasty and very well presented. The portion was good enough for 1-2 person. The service was good as well, we went with the signature nasi ayam semerah padi as well as their ali baba nachos. Going there during MCO 3.0 was a great...time because it was well spaced.More

Didn't read up on the restaurant before visiting, but was pleasantly surprised as its theme (decor, music, menu item names) were all from Malaysia's most famous artist, the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee. Food was delicious and surprisingly big in portion considering how most the...menu pricing was (for a restaurant like that. Highly recommend the beef rendang!More

Great food here and generous portion. Tables are a bit narrow, so if you are ordering quite a bit of food, you might need to ask for a bigger table.

Interesting decor, friendly and efficient service and best beef and chicken rending I have had for a while. I can see why others rated highly.

It was the first food we had there after check in and it was superb! The ambience was romantic and chill, cold and friendly staff. The food was delicious, I would not sleep well at night because I would crave it. It's unique and the...concept was a tribute for the late P.Ramlee, which was awesome! So that foreigner can learn and get to know our legendary artist.More

This is a popular place especially for tourist. Food tastes good with good presentation too. Generous portion for the price charged. Staff were friendly and helpful. Could be hard to get a car park nearby. Better make your reservation before go.

Located in the heart of Georgetown, hustling n bustling strategic area, is Lagenda, needless to introduce who specialises in Beef Rendang, Ayam Masak Merah, Gado Gado, Taukuah Sumbat, Satay just to name a few... You can either opt for Yellow Tumeric Rice or even Blue...Pea Rice in which both also taste fabulous, as per se. The Signature Dessert would be! Banana Bakar (Burnt/ Fried Banana) or even Sago... Speechless, is all I can say... Yummie!More

Lagenda means legend in English. A tribute to a well loved Malaysian legendary artiste, P Ramlee. His movies are classics, his deep voice melts a thousand dames and his songs are all-time favourites. This cafe? When I first discovered this cafe a few years back,...at Campbell Street, I said I must introduce it to my family and friends. The Malay food was tantalising, awesome. The man who served us was polite and courteous. Still remember it like yesterday. So, naturally I was excited when I chance on it recently when I was at Chulia Street. The new cafe is on a street perpendicular to Chulia Street, oppostie Mugshot Cafe. However, my 2nd visit was rather a letdown. The western offering was so -so, understandably to cater to tourists or children who cant take rich spicy foods. The banana split that my kiddo ordered has some surprises. They added cutlets of watermelon to it! Sorry, banana, ice cream, watermelon and something else ( can't remember) just didnt go well with us. I ordered what they are good at - Malay dishes and I was not disappointed there. Interesting presentation. The main dish came together with an array of Malay 'appetisers", served on a congkak and chinese altar tea cups! Very interesting! The cafe has a pleasant ambience and setting to it. Sadly, what's missing is a sweet welcoming hospitality and smiles! The people who work there look uptight, not willing to smile even when we were courteous towards them. Ratings just tumble because of that. It is very competitive out there. Without the hospitality, the friendliness and smiles, I wonder what's up their sleeves to keep patrons coming back. Will I return? Nope. Nope. Which is sad, cos I really like the nostalgic feel of P Ramlee and his old, charming songs.More
