A most pleasant surprise. Besides a beautiful location staff were discrete yet always there, service at the correct pace, not rushed nor delayed resulting in a most enjoyable 2 hour dining experience.
To recommend; rigatoni, aged Australian beef and their tomato sorbet which just seemed to evaporated in the mouth, just as it should.
Thanks to all the staff, well worth the detour.

After 10 days of Asia we finally found a classy restaurant with uncrippled Italian cuisine. Alice was our table assistant, outstanding, professional at best. Extremely elegant venue in a beautiful setting. All the extremely professional staff, but above all our best compliments go to the cook who gave us a bit of Italianness.
When we return to Kota Kikanbalu it will be our mandatory stop.
Obvious in all this context the price is not average of the restaurants we visited between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, but what we had and ate was money well spent. Andrea Justi

The staff couldn’t have been more brilliant with their service, very attentive and even customised mine and my partners order each for dishes that was not on the menu! One thing I think the restaurant needs to provide is asking dietary requirements before ordering. The air con makes the glass have condensation on the outside so you can’t see out onto the sea view from the inside. The staff are absolutely brilliant though, hats off to them all!

This review is for Alfresco, which comes under the Ferdinand’s banner at The Magellan, Sutera Harbour.
We can highly recommend Alfresco as a great place to have a meal, lunch, dinner or just take advantage of the happy hour drinks!
The service by all of the team was first class and Sue, with her warm friendly attentive manner, in particular made us feel welcome and special!
There is a range of seating options, from casual family to romantic oceanside.
The sunset in the evening is spectacular and the views to the islands are beautiful.
The music was enjoyable and played at the right level to set the atmosphere perfectly.
We had grilled barramund, chicken, Caesar salads and a light dessert. Earlier in the week we enjoyed curry mee, Korean beef, as well as more western burger meals,
Drinks ranged from delicious citrus lychee cooler and Asam boi fizzy mocktails to madam Bailey cocktail!
Highly recommend dropping by for a visit!

My partner and I went to Ferdinand’s last night for dinner and couldn’t have been happier with our experience.
Noreen and Alice were so attentive and took amazing care of us for the entire evening. Our glasses were never empty, they learned our names and were lovely to chat to throughout the night.
The food was as good as any Italian you’d get in Melbourne, along with a fantastic bottle of 2014 Sangiovese for a fraction of the price you’d pay in Australia.
Images of the Wagyu menu do not do it justice. Great portion sizes and cooked food exactly how we wanted it - “rare”.

My husband and I, along with our two friends, enjoyed the most delicious dinner at Ferdinand’s. We travel often and have visited close to 40 countries and our dining experience at Ferdinand’s was one of the very best!
The experience began well before our dinner as we were immediately contacted via WhatsApp shortly after I made a booking inquiry. When we arrived at Ferdinand’s, we were greeted by Alice who walked us to a table with floor to ceiling windows with the most beautiful sunset view!
We ordered the ribeye and chicken and they were cooked to perfection. Our friends were also happy with their steak and drinks. Our desserts were phenomenal!!! Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff!
More importantly, I want to thank Alice for taking great care of us with our booking and making sure that our meals were prepared to our liking. The entire wait staff was professional, friendly, and caring! No one made a mistake! They all knew who ordered what. No one asked anything and placed the plates in front of the people who ordered them!
The restaurant also have us complimentary and delicious treats like asparagus soup and panne cotta. Two tables close to us were celebrating birthdays and the staff really made the celebrants feel special. Again, it showed the level of attention to detail and care.
We will definitely be returning to Ferdinand’s whenever our travels take us to Kota Kinabalu! Thank you Alice and team for a memorable and most awesome dining experience!

This has been our first visit to KK, my wife and daughter both have celiac disease, and finding a restaurant that could accommodate/produce a gluten free meal has been challenging. When I reached out to Ferdinand's, I got a very prompt reply from Mizan, who then put me directly in touch with Daniele, the head chef. Daniele, then emailed us a gluten free menu and outlined some of the other dishes he could create for my wife and daughter.
When we arrived for dinner, we were truly impressed with the ambiance of the restaurant, and the level of service we received throughout the evening was nothing short of spectacular. This is to say nothing of the food, which was absolutely outstanding. The chef did a GF Risotto and Beef Tenderloin, not that I got a chance to try it, as my wife refused to share, saying it was one of the best Risotto's she'd had.
It has meant so much to us, to be able to go out and have such a memorable meal. As a celiac, my wife tends to have a strong reaction to even the slightest amount of cross contamination, and although the restaurant couldn't guarantee it, she has had no adverse reaction. The next time we are in KK, we will be sure to return to Ferdinand’s again for the great food and service we received, we really can't thank Daniele and his team enough.

Without doubt one of the finest meals we’ve ever had anywhere in the world! I know that’s a big claim but the whole dining experience at Ferdinand’s was amazing! The staff were fantastic and went out of their way with their fabulous service, even organizing a band to turn up to play an anniversary song for my wife & I! The food was out of this world, every bite was a pleasure explosion in our mouths!

We have had dinner here a few times now during our 5 months in KK. Every time it has been wonderful and the stand out is the service. We had Norin looking after us most times and she is friendly, professional and also a delightful person. All the other staff are great too. This service is harder and harder to find in today's world.
The food is well thought out and served very well presented and it is always very tasty! The fish and seafood dishes have been very good.
The atmosphere is classy, nicely lit and it's a pleasant atmosphere for having good conversations.
We'll miss Ferdinand's now we have left KK but it would be one of our first stops when we return.

We had a great & amazing experience in Ferdinand’s. After driving down from Kundasang, we head to Magellan Hotel for our 2-night stays in KK. We have booked much earlier at the website for dinner, promotion of Tenderloin Gourmand on 30th July.
We were served by Alice, Belle, Shakir & Fahmi during the dinner. Food was good, portion was big too. No Complains, perfecto!
But most importantly, the service granted by the staff that night. We are delighted and very happy with the quality of food, staff and the whole experience during our dinner.

We celebrated our colleague's birthday. The very helpful staff gave us a good set dinner as our group was 24 in number. The mushroom soup and the pre-dinner appetizer was excellent. We had a choice of salmon, steak or chicken. Most of us chose the salmon or steak. My steak was cooked perfectly. The salmon was nice too though one colleague mentioned that her salmon was a bit overdone.

Ms. Norin from Ferdinand’s she had extensively provided excellent services to my parents & most of all the steak & other main courses by Chef was perfectly cooked that night!
Ferdinand’s had portrayed that the F & B services in this resort was way beyond excellent & top class services. They have been very attentive, genuinely friendly and heart warming.
Loving the atmosphere & especially the specialty coffee served by the bar tender! Bravo!
Looking forward to dine with you all again soon!

Classy, ambiant restaurant for small and big occasions. European food.
We visited 3 times during our stay in KK. The meat was cooked to perfection, the lemon sorbet was refreshing and obviously made from fresh squeezed lemon/lime. Also the free-range chicken was excellent. Panna Cotta as a chef surprise tasted delicious.
During dinner there is live music by a talented trio, nothing flamboyant; just a perfect and comfortable backdrop for the evening.
The oceanview is also worth a mention along with the skilled and elegant service. You will feel well taken care of.

I had dinner here with my family with our guests. The waiters were friendly and they took note of my nut allergy. For the main course. I had homemade bigoli with cacio pepe sauce. It was exceptional, the truffle tasted fine and the sauce was generous enough to coat the pasta. I loved the ambience of the place, very romantic, and nice music to accompany the mood. Overall very pleasant experience!

Just a beautiful experience, thanks to Norin’s impeccable service, on top of perfect food. We had the scallops, beef carpaccio, waygu beef, soup and topped it off with a perfect dark chocolate dessert. Nice surprises along the way with some chef complimentary treats. Highly recommend
