What a disappointment this restaurant was we were on a tour and had prebooked for the 3 course lunch we wanted fish chips and were told they had none -- we asked for english tea told they had none the meal on the whole was...very disappointing the scone was not fresh - there were not much of gardens to look at such a shame they could do so much more with this restaurant and its grounds.More

Feel nostalgic as I was here for the authentic European food. Unlike the mass trend of franchise in the town or elsewhere in Sandakan. As it is up the hillside, the foundation of the area looks a bit unsafe now. the concrete stair has some...obvious cracks. Hopefully, they have funding to do some pilling to reinforce the foundation.More

I was taken here for lunch as part of my speilok day trip tour. The views are amazing the gardens beautiful and food very very good quality and today I was accompanied by some very British weather the rain, but not for long. The music...in the background was old movie music loved it , it added to the atmosphere of this idiillic place. It was my birthday when I visited and they bought out a beautiful birthday cake and all sung happy birthday to me , as I was a solo traveller I requested they all have a slice of cake on me. They made my day very special and enjoyable thank you. My only downside for here was the toilets did not appear that clean whether it was wear and tear not sure, maybe could do with a little updating. But thank you all for a lovely lunch . 👌😊More

On my 2nd visit with my friends, they put my scorned in a small plate...and the jam / butters are no where to be found!!! Dammit! And this place have no aircond! So is hot!More

The first time I dined here was for lunch & they had a set menu as I was travelling with a tour group. The food was excellent however I found when you requested something simple like a lattee, they knew it was coffee but just...brought me a cup of coffee! The second visit was to dine with 5 friends for dinner. Again understanding of the English language was a problem & therefore we received some things we didn't order. All but one of our entrees arrived & soon after the mains came. When it was pointed out there was an entree missing the waiter wandered off & shortly returned with the missing entree. By this stage our table was pretty full of plates of food. We were about half way through our mains when all of a sudden dessert arrived. I found this to be extremely bad form. We are sitting in a cafe called Rocks, which on the google map we believed to be the English Tea House at their new location of Jessleton Point. Yes they have tea and shepherds pie, but it is clearly not the venue we have read...reviews about, and is a mere port cafe. On sitting down for a much required drink after the lengthy task of tracking this place - not in the location given or directed by google maps - we needed to move tables, as I particularly don't like ants on my seat or table. We phoned the tea house and this is where we were sent to. The waitress smiled and said the tea house has gone. I asked where - she said Jalan Sulaman near 1 Borneo. I will make it my quest to find, but if they do exist I suggest they address their website and contact TripAdvisor to update their details. As for the Rocks Cafe - we had a nice refreshing ice coffee, but as for food - who knows??More

We had lunch here and it was like something out of 1920s England from the waiting staffs outfits to the music and the building. I had the soup to start which was full of flavour with the fish for my main which was perfectly cooked....They also had cream teas which unfortunately we were too full to try!More

traditional English tea which started in Sandakan and probably the best place to experience it. the KK outlet is small and feels like another coffee shop with its English deco. i don't see myself visiting this place everyday, perhaps once a month if at all....after all its just tea but i think its more on the British culture and how u can share that experience. If England is too far for u, than u must visit the English tea house. 7/10More

Finally reopen at Alam Mesra(located behind Hong Leong Bank) after KK Jessalton port. They have less menu selection than before, but quality remain as good as before. Recommend if you drop by Sandakan, also drop by same restaurant located uphill.
