great coffee, good food, nice atmosphere, nice friendly service, low key, a bit pricey by local standards and a smallish menu but is rather good as an occasional hang-out place for locals and a homely option for western travellers.

Coffee and food is good and consistent but the service is sometimes not good. Waiting times are long and feel like there is no leader in the restaurant. Just workers who don’t have customer service abilities. Shame could be an amazing experience otherwise
My wife and I lived in Kota Kinabalu for a few years and Nook was our favorite cafe (and we tried MANY cafes in KK - some others are still good but Nook was our clear favorite). The staff is fantastic, the food and coffee...are tasty, and the ambiance is top notch. It's also normally difficult to find good bread in KK, and Nook's is easily the best (Nook renovated last year to add a bakery so they could bake their own breads in-house). Great sourdough and brioche. Nook is a place that continues to grow, adapt, and add to their offerings to improve customer experience, so I imagine they'll only keep getting better (they just added a mini-market!). It's also a great place for working on your laptop (but be respectful and courteous, of course, and be sure not to take up a big table or stay for hours without ordering things - there are plenty of tasty cakes, drinks, and treats to try anyway).More
Good coffee place with a good selection of breakfast and drinks. The wifi works very well and the nice is friendly.
Very enjoyable cafe that offers delicious breakfast and drink options. We would recommend the lavender lemonade and Kaya french toast.
Two breakfasts and now dinner here. Lovely sourdough bread here baked on the premises - a nice surprise. The soy chai latte is the real deal. I strongly recommend the Nook Cafe in KK.
During my 7 day stay in Kota Kinabalu I was a repeat customer for breakfast and dinner. They have a great selection of food and drinks with a lovely atmosphere. The wifi is great and the staff are even better. Not to mention the coffee...is absolutely exceptional. They are very passionate about what they do. I would recommend for anyone to come and try it out when in town. Plus they have authentic Chai Lattes which are the best I’ve ever seen!More
Great little cafe. Good food and really lovely staff. Great find!! We visited almost every day ........
We have been here 3 times during our 8 night stay in Kota Kinabalu. On the first morning after some 24 hours of travel we were hungry. The breakfast looked lovely but is served cold so be prepared to eat it like that or send...it back. Second morning my partner had the omelette which we asked for well done which was piping hot & delicious. I had the yogurt bowl which was equally delicious. Third morning we were later so both wanted the egg sandwich minus the chicken which we had seen on a previous visit only to be told we couldn’t have it without chicken?? Weird response as clearly the sandwich we had witnessed another couple eating the day before looked absolutely delicious & did not have chicken in as we asked them! The breakfast tea & the coffee on the first day were lovely but they ran out of tea & as of this morning hadn’t replaced it. The ginger zinger was available on 2 of the days & that’s very refreshing. Staff friendly but a few things need tweaking for a 5 star rating.More
25 minutes to get a coffee is not acceptable. Reason: sorry sir, we have other orders. It’s bad when you are running a business and can’t cope especially when it’s not even full. My $11 ringgit flat white was lukewarm as they added cold milk...to it. Won’t be back.More
