Went there to try Poh Lam's Sarawak Laksa. Disappointed. 9 of us didn't like the laksa. Maybe we can't adapt to this laksa version.

So first things first: laksa is a breakfast/lunch meal. We made this mistake by trying to get it for a late lunch one day but they had completely sold out. So try and go either first thing in the morning or at the latest 11am....The place itself has multiple mini food stalls so that Choon Chong is actually more of a food court than a restaurant. You'll find the laksa stall at one end of the Food court and a drinks stall at the other end. Now, the laksa was delightful. Everywhere you go (particularly in Kuching), someone will claim to have the best laksa. I have no comparison, so I cannot say if this is the best or not - but it's certainly a good place to start!More

First try of Sarawak laksa. Spicy. Thick gravy. Sour. This stall in Chong choon cafe is famous and the amount of patrons says it all. No seats around 9am and had to wait but not for Long. We also tried the poh piah and coffee....These two nothing to shout about. Only the laksa is good.More

You should try the laksa when you are in Kuching. The spiciness of the soup is just right with coriander leaves to top up the flavour and huge prawn for seafood lovers.

What an amazing breakfast we had two Laksa with hot buttery thick toast and the food was outstanding. One of the waitresses noticed our son struggling a little with the chopsticks so she quickly bought a fork and spoon. It’s a very basic eatery with...truly amazing foodMore

While we were in Kuching, cab driver recommended this local outlet to us for good Sarawak noodles. It was not too far from our Riverside hotel. However, it was not to our expectation and it was just ordinary .

Came here for laksa on our first day in Kuching as it was near our hotel and was not disappointed. Nice big prawns and tasty laksa soup. The kolo mee was also good as were the glutinous rice packets filled with shrimps. Quite busy and...we had to wait quite a while to get the table cleared before we could sit downMore

Attempt 1 : arrived there at 10am. Only to find out their famous Kuching Laksa has sold out for the day. Attempt 2 : arrived there at 9am. Only to find out they are CLOSED. (It was a Tuesday and no signage of operation time/day)...Ordered porridge and kolo mee from nearby stalls. Did not disappoint and it ended up a nice breakfast. In summary, go early. Very early.More

Been a regular to Chong Choon Cafe even before they relocated to their current site. Only reason is Poh Lum Sarawak Laksa and their Teh C Peng. Was there recently and had ordered my usual. Have to honestly say that the sarawak laksa had somewhat...decline in their standard. The soup is less spicy and tasted on the bland side. Perhaps its just for that day. However it came with 3 large succulent prawns which was definitely on the plus side. Price was RM7 which was slightly pricier. However if you are around in Jalan Padungan and want to get your fix of Sarawak laksa, its still a good bet. However if you are game for a 15 minutes walk, try Choon Hui in Ban Hock Road.More

if you are craving for Laksa, this is the place to come. However, do come here EARLY. The Laksa can be sold out by 9am. You may opt for the Roti Kahwin too if the laksa is no more available...BUT even the roti can be...selling fast. LolMore

The Sarawak Laksa was good, the rest of the orders where mediocre. That being said, our friends who are locals there commented that there has been a lack of consistency in terms of quality. I guess we were lucky that on this morning after over...40 minutes wait, we were treated to a nice delicious hot bowl of Sarawak laksa.More

The cafe does serve pork. But the sarawak laksa does not have pork. Its the best! You’ll probably see muslim people eating there too. And the Teh-C special is a must have!
