Food was good at this spacious open air canteen-styled restaurant. worth the price because of ambience, food and service. the nice water feature running down the centre of the restaurant was also a plus. The kacangma pesto pasa was interesting and pretty nice (to my...taste cos i like creamy pasta) and the mushroom soup was pretty good too. The Marian is a quaint boutique hotel and worth a stay too if your party can manage the steps up and down the accommodation because it is a beautifully restored heritage building and was formerly St Mary's boarding school - which my grandma attended! We didnt stay but had a quick tour around. Pretty nifty and very cool!More

Staff were friendly and there are some nice murals. Parking is a real problem. We ordered Rainforest Fried Rice, Nasi Kerabu, Dried Laksa and Nanasi. The Fried Rice was a little oily and I felt this needed a little meat. The Nasi Kerabu and Laksa...were delicious but could be less spicy. The Nanasi was superb and almost perfect with the satay cooked perfectly. Be aware that the lunch and dinner have different menus.More

Love the decor & history here. We weren't aware that you were supposed to order via the "app", so sat & waited quite a while for a waiter/waitress. They begrudgingly wrote our order down on an antiquated piece of paper. We couldn't get what we...wanted - lunchtime only - so settled for second choices. I had the Chicken Fettucine - and it was absolutely delicious. By far the best meal I had on my holiday. Unfortunately the fan near us was blasting away, so it went cold pretty quickly. The cats roaming about the place gave it a real "Kuching" feel.More

Went to Kantin about 6pm. Asian food menu looked really interesting. Unfortunately, we were told that only Weatern food options are available after 4pm. So disappointing. We went elsewhere!!

Wow. This is exactly the type of restaurant I LOVE. Modern, healthy, simple with a touch of originality. Not much choices but just what you need, there is something for everyone. Dishes are extra delicious (we’ve been there twice and couldn’t choose which of the...4 was the tastiest). Everything is original and exotic. There is only one dessert but what a YUM! Special mention for best brownie ever tried we actually had 2 of them tonight lol, I loved it by it’s own but my husband prefer with the vanilla ice cream. (Lunch and dinner are different dishes but all very good) Drinks are also very nice. Staff is so friendly and professional. So far best restaurant in Borneo ! Very very recommended. They didn’t lie, you haven’t been in Sarawak if you haven’t eat there ! Thank you !More

Frankly, me and my wife wanted to taste the food as we never been to this place before as a local. Eventhough there are plenty of places to sit, we were put to sit at a hotter place because the “outside” table can occupy 2...pax. Very rigid business that don’t allow customers to choose their place to sit. I asked if I could sit at a cooler place even if it’s 4 pax table. The staff answered me “It’s Lunch Time, though”. It’s 1140am. Lunch time but nobody eat there. How lah? Or you’re asking us to sit there if it’s not lunch time? Tea time? Really a lot of people eat there on lunch time? Packed everyday? Moreover, we were asked to sit at a “high table” as an option. We been there 2 times , and it’s the same suggestion. We weren’t dress properly, maybe just decent office wears. Not as nice as those customers that were seated at a proper place in the middle hall (not hot). Maybe they were trained to look down on people. Maybe also they look down on doctors. Oh well. I never tasted your food, and never will I repeat going there the 3rd time to be denied a seat again (or ask to sit in high chair).More

Absolutely love the place! The location, the deco (interior & exterior), the atmosphere, the ambiance, the friendly staff (both humans & feline ones) and most especially the food were so amazing. Highly recommended for both lunch & dinner as they have two separate menus –...Asia menu for lunch (10am-4pm) & Western menu for dinner (4pm onwards). Their dishes are a fusion of both Asian & Western and like their menu state “Eat at your own risk, Everything is addictive!” Service is superb. There is a vibe from the staff that tells you that they love what they do & enjoy working there. I think the feline staff only works the night shift, but they were so friendly as well. I wish I took photos of them but I was busy admiring their passion at making the patrons feel at home! Imagined that they were the managers of the restaurant and going from table to table asking how the food were. Food came really fast despite it being a full house! Do go with an empty stomach as portions are on the bigger side which is very good!! The whole place is so Instagram worthy! A rustic feel yet cosy. Somewhat ‘Kantin’ feel as well but it’s a high-class Canteen. Like the bare brick wall & wooden pillars look as well. Open concept with lots of ceiling fans including a massive one plus many windows and airy walls. Don’t leave Kuching without trying out this place! I give it 5 🌟 and it has my 💖 + tummy!More

This restaurant / bistro is highly recommendable for lunch and dinner. Reasonable prices and they serve beer and wine :-) They have a small menu (aswell European as Asian) though , therefore very good quality. We have eaten there 3-4 times. Price ranges : fries...9 myr, lunch dish 20 myr, evening dishes between 25-45 myr It’s really worth a visit for a drink or/and a meal! Regards from The Netherlands, June 24nd 2022More

They have a small menu, but a different one for breakfast and diner. You can choose between different classic Malaysian dishes and all of them are fresh, well presented and delicious. The price/quality is perfect. They have a young team of servants that are clearly...not professionals, but they get the job done. We ate there already 4 times 😁.More

I love the ambiance. The chairs and table are recycled-knocked together from old bits and pieces. The food is better than expected .. the name 'Kantin' evokes old school kantins. Of course, the food is far superior to the old kantins but it does bring...back the good old taste of 20cts-fried noodles,-laksa, etc. Today, this 'Kantin' food is among one of the best in Kuching. Tried to bring local friends over but the lack of carparks puts them off. Then another friend suggested parking along Carpenter Street which is just adjacent to it. Yes, that should do it. Will go for dinner today, 16th Jan 2022. Great for tourists, in central Kuching, within walking distance of main and budget hotels. It's clean, airy and serves South East Asian cuisine. That's what tourists are here to taste, I assume. As a local, I love the 'rectangular' satay. The Thai fried rice is yummy.More

Definitely a place to dine in and try their food. I love how they have a wide variety of Asian and western cuisine to choose from. Plus this spacious place just makes it so much better to experience good food with family and friends. Had...to go back a few times to try several of their dishes. Trust me, their portion is super big and filling.More

A hipster hidden gem tucked underneath the foothills of the Marian Boutique Hotel. Ordered a few dishes to share and try with friends. A few things I'm obsessed with and recommend are the Rainforest Fried Rice (Crispy cauliflower is the BOMB!), Nanasi, and Sarawak Teh...C Peng Special. Great place to chill with friends. For me, I'm most definitely coming back for their fried rice. Service crews are attentive and friendly when it comes to handling our requests. It's hard to find parking here, so it's best to Grab or either park at Medan Pelita.More
