This place was recommended to my by a local, and it didn't disappoint. Fantastic restaurant, beautiful surroundings, great food and friendly staff. I highly recommend eating here if you're in Kuching.

Fantastic spot for hangouts. The atmosphere is super nice and cozy, and the staff are incredibly friendly. We had relatives from overseas visiting, and they wanted something more exotic and Sarawakian, so we gave Lepau a try. Best decision ever made. I can still taste...their tempoyak in my dreams! If durian is not your taste, I highly recommend their ayam pansuh. Its one of the best I ever had. My relatives are still raving about it XD Definitely will return again for our next family reunion!More

Lepau is hugely popular on Saturday night here in Kuching. We were lucky to get a table for two as it was almost completely booked. We had two main dishes and two salads along with a couple banana leaves wrapped in with rice. The flavors...were fantastic some of the best chicken we’ve ever had, the ceviche style fish was super tangy maybe too much for some, but I loved the vegetables. Were these firm like greens along with chopped spinach and squash with garlic super tasty all of it. The interior is nice and spacious not too noisy service was very prompt. I had a professional, and the cost is completely reasonable. I’d highly recommend a visit here. The portions are large. There is no reason to get more than a single serving of anything for up to three people. They are quite generous. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation.More

A pleasant setting and friendly, helpful staff. We shared a Kacangma Chicken, a Sweet & Sour Chicken and a special fried rice. I found the first one too bitter but the other two were fine. Nothing special but the food was plentiful and came out...of the kitchen quickly.More

My family of 3 had dinner on our trip to Kuching. We just walked in based on reviews and did not make any reservation - the restaurant was packed and we were lucky they even let us in. I would recommend you make prior reservation....The food was awesome. This was my first time trying authentic Sarawakian cuisine and I am glad we tried it. We ordered small serving of: pansuh chicken, sambal terung asam salai, pekasam fermented fish (gravy), medium size belacan midin and 2 brown bario rice wrapped in itun sip. All the dishes were flavoursome and we thoroughly enjoyed them especially the sambal terung. In fact my husband who is not so adventurous with food enjoyed his meal (he didn't quite fancy the fish though). I wish we had more room in our tummies to order other dishes but we could only eat so much. Service was good - for not making any reservation, our wait time would have been about 20 minutes. Highly recommend this place to anyone who wishes to try an authentic local meal.More

The food was amazing, and ticked off multiple foods from the Kuching Tourism Centre's Top 10 Kuching food delights list including ayam pangsoh, midin blachan, umai, assam pedas, cangkuk manis. Really delicious, served quickly in a quiet, well-spaced tent-like environment. Highly recommended.

First day in Kuching, LePau recommended and didn’t disappoint. Book early via whatsapp. 2 sittings 6:30 or 8:30. It was very busy however food was excellent. Feast on forest ferns, river fish, beef, chicken or prawns. Delicate flavours, small portion size is for one /...two people. Service was good and the staff warm and friendly. We will be back in two days time for more treats. Love the food !!More

We recognised very little of the menu, apart from the basic ingredients like fish, chicken etc, which made this an interesting dinner. The names of the dishes and the veggies used were completely unknown to us. With a bit of direction/advice from our waiter we...ended up with a really good meal. First rate. Making a reservation was a bit tricky - only possible on WhatsApp but well worth it.More

Overall experience was wow. I'm from KL and am very satisfied with this restaurant. Previous review mentioned poor service but I beg to differ. I rang beforehand to check if booking is required, but was told to just walk in. This is for 830to9pm on...a Monday night. Parking is tricky to find. Lepau restaurant is beautifully decorated. I was worried it might be hot and humid, but it wasn't at all (it just rained). There are some mozzies though, so apply repellents. Wait staff was very polite and friendly, no issues at all. Service was quick and food came promptly. Mind the restaurant was still quite full at this point, customers kept coming in. We ordered whatever looked interesting on the menu with the help of the waiter. We got the fermented fish, kerabu midin, belacan ladies fingers, fried mackerel fish and cangkuk manis with eggs. I cannot fault any of these dishes, oh my. Coupled with purple rice and lemon grass/tree bark drink, it was a very very appetising meal. Bill was just over RM 200 for a family of 4 adults and 2 kids. We were all very happy and almost everyone slept in the car on the way home.More

26/7/2022 - Marks the last time I would ever enter this place. Food was of course delicious BUT TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Should’ve at least have the courtesy to relocate us to a bigger table - there was clearly one that was available or think of...a creative way to accommodate since got extra pax joining in. The emphasis was on the “BOOKING”, so those who booked would be treated much better compared to those who walked in. I definitely dont feel entitled at all to deserve better hospitality but the disrespect from the waiter towards the customer is something which cannot be tolerated.More
