Japanese cuisine is not what we normally have in Malaysia but we had the opportunity to dine here for lunch during our holiday in Feb’24. Our group booked a private room and we also had a table in the main dining area too because of...our size. Service wise, it was commendable as there were a few times when our kids dropped a utensil, and the waitress came with a replacement proactively. They were also all polite, discreet & accommodating. Atmosphere wise, the place did well to exuberant a typical Japanese high end vibe during lunchtime. Dinner would likely be more enhanced with the dark color theme. Food wise, our group’s collective verdict is that while it could be enhanced, the flavor were good for our first time. The unagi was juicy in the bento but we found the miso soup a tad salty. Our kids enjoyed the plain udon soup noodle. Overall a pleasant dining experience.More

Place is decent but the sushi fails badly with the sashimi has fish bones. The most basic of sushi is to NOT have fish bones in sashimi. We told the waitress, and no one came to explain nor apologize for the horrible mistaken. Not even...the manager nor the chef who prep the food. When come to bill they blindly ignore the incident and boldy charge into the bill. We had to voice out and the waitress came back with a 10% just for that sashimi. I would not recommend this place. Not a proper Japanese cuisine restaurant from my opinion. Please do not risk of have any sashimi for the children. Raw fish bone is dangerous for kids.More

We call up the restaurant a day before to book a room as there are 2 of us with a 1 year old. This is our first restaurant dine in experience for the last 6 months due to the lock down. We were the first...guest arriving at 5.30pm sharp. We were then shown to our room. This restaurant dining area is not very big - it has 2 private room which can accommodate 8-10 pax, a dozen of 2-3 pax table at the dining area and 2 stretches of over the counter dining for about 6-8 pax each. We ordered 2 sets dinners, 2 servings of rolls, a salad and some tofu. The meals were served quite fast and taste good. The Uroko Salad with soft shell crab and salmon skin is excellent. The golden dragon roll is another great choice. Overall the food taste very good, I would give it a 4.5/5. The service is also very good, the waitress were very attentive to the extent that we dropped a chawan mushi spoon and immediately she brought over a new spoon. We were in a private room with the door open and she was actually outside. The only downside is the restaurant is on the 2nd floor and for whatever reason the lift door won’t open at the ground floor so we have to climb up the stairs carrying a 1 year old. However, the lift was usable and we took it from 2nd floor down after our meals. All in all, this is a great restaurant and we will definitely come back. Just a note, please call up to make reservations before you go in order not to be disappointed as they can be very full.More

The restaurant is on the second floor above a modern Asia fusion chinese restaurant. The door is on the side of the Chinese place. As you enter the atmosphere is tranquil. The preparation counter is visible as it should be with sushi. It is clean...and friendly. The menu offers a la cart as well as set lunch/dinner menu. A set cost around RMY 46 /54. We were happy we our sets. They have wine and beer along with the green tea and other Japanese soft drinks. The service was good. To sum up I will return and can recommend this place.More

The food here is really not bad. I believe its better than its other outlet near Ara Damansara. Great environment for lunch or dinner. Better call for reservations, not that many tables.

Visited this restaurant on our third try. It was fully booked on two earlier tries. The reason for our visit was simple: we wanted to try a few yakitori dishes. We have visited many Japanese restaurants in the past but on those occasions we had...tried sushi, sashami and even tepanyake dishes. Our introduction to yakitori could not have been better. These were the dishes we ordered: Okura Maki, Yaki Shitake, Ika, Negi Ma, Ebi Mango Temaki, Una Kyu Maki and finally Temoura Moriawase. For drinks, we had Green Tea and House Sake ( Warm ). Among the yakitori dishes which were all good, I loved the squid one. It was done to perfection.......soft, tasty and delicious. The other dishes were just as good and presented in a tasteful manner. The one flaw was that the service was rather slow partly because of a full house. The waiters and waitresses worked fast but were nevertheless alert and responded courteously to our calls and hand signals for attention. The place was quite big and there appeared to be sections for those who wanted a private space.More

We came here for lunch and tried their omakase. The fruit salad was nice and refreshing. The sashimi is very fresh and what we like about it is the fresh grated wasabi. The foie gras in this set is really good and a nice generous...portion. Overall we like our meal here. Service is fine but the air conditioning is a bit too chilly. Would love to come back again to try other items on the menu.More

Food here is excellent; and service too. Sashimi is very fresh, the fried oysters are superbly done with the outside coating crunchy and the oysters juicy on the inside, agedashi tofu smooth ..... . Best of all - no corkage on wine and spirits so...I can bring my favourite drinks to complement the delicious food.More

The first outlet was opened in 2016 on the first floor of a corner shoplot in residential neighbourhood of Section 17 PJ. Although the decor is kind of upscale, don't be surprised to see locals coming in with shorts, slippers and T-shirts.. it is a...popular Japanese eatery in this area, so popular that weekend dinner without reservation is almost impossible - in fact, I wrote this post immediately after coming back from dinner at Uroko Saujana Nova after I failed to get a reservation at their PJ outlet on Friday evening. Quick fact - Uroko means "scales" in Japanese and I'm pretty sure that those who have gone there should have noticed the distinctive patterns dominating the entire outlet there. The whole outlet is dimly lit but the aura of calmness is still there from my first visit. ◾Start the meal with salmon ball salad - nothing beats a bowl of fresh salad to whet the appetite where they use raw salmon slices to wrap around the fresh salad like a ball, with ponzu-like sauce as dressing; ◾grilled salmon head ◾Kaisen kami nabe or seafood paper hot pot provided the much needed comforting to the tummy. ◾sea urchin (uni) - once in a while splurge on this delicacy and it never disappoint with its creaminess and freshness ◾ One of my favourite will be Hanabi Sushi where the chef combined pan fried tuna with foie gras on top (6 pcs in total) - I actually couldn't figure out how both ingredients complement each other so I ended up eating separately.. lol ◾ Unagi panko roll - deep fried tuna maki with eel and avocado mayo.. I quite like this ◾Saba shioyaki - essentially grilled mackarel with salt, this fish is one of my commonly order dish and I love how they managed to get the doneness and texture of the fish right everytime. ◾Sashimi, sushi and yakitori are quite prominent here - try their grilled chicken gizzard, soft bones and even chicken wings. ◾Yaki tamago - the little one's favourite and even I thought that this is one of the best I'd eaten so far. ◾shake don - generously portioned salmon sashimi and salmon roe on top of sushi rice. ◾Various bento sets are available as set lunch and dinner if you can't make up your mind on what to eat. We had the salmon teriyaki set that comes with sashimi which was worth the price paid. ◾Their yuzu ice cream is to die for.. I ordered this almost everytime I was here. If you love your sake, their sake list is quite extensive and sometimes they do promotion on certain products. I once opened a 1.8 litre sake which could be parked for few months in case I couldn't finish it. Or you can just order their house sake at 200ml.More

in my opinion, this restaurant is far better than any of the chain stores available. Price is a bit on the higher (middle upper) side. Food quality is great and service is great too. Better make reservation before you visit. Week days more business visits...and weekend more family friendly.More

Uroko has firmly established themselves as one of the top Japanese restaurants in PJ. Come any day and they are quite packed - worse when it comes to weekends. It is impossible to get a table without reservation on weekends. Book their private room way...in advance for more intimate affair. The restaurant is dimly lit yet exudes the aura of calmness as I entered the premise. The service team is very fast to bring you to the table and a thick menu book with be given to you - set menu (lunch or dinner) is available too. You can choose to sit at the sushi counter and watch as the chef prepares your order. Oh yes! If you're feeling adventurous, go for their omakase where the chef will prepare the freshest ingredients to you on the spot. ◾They are well-stocked on Japanese spirit and sometimes they will have promotion on certain sake(s). Have it cold or hot depending on your mood. ◾Nothing beats a bowl of fresh salad to whet the appetite - my favourite will be salmon ball salad where they use raw salmon slices to wrap around the fresh salad like a ball, with ponzu-like sauce as dressing; and ◾Uroko salad - soft shell crab & crispy salmon skin on top of the salad, with sesame mayo sauce dressing. This is good too! ◾ If you like sashimi, there's a high chance that you'll like uni (sea urchin)... Fresh with umami-goodness ◾Unagi kabayaki - I took risk by ordering the grilled eel and it paid off - it was very good without the muddy taste. I cleaned the plate ◾boiled salmon soup ◾take note that they have what they called "Lady Set" that comes with a plate of sashimi, set of sushi, salad, chawanmushi and rice.. I'd say it's value for money ◾ The selection for dinner set was quite good and there must be something that fit your requirement ◾ Desserts... Go for their awesome yuzu, goma and matcha ice cream. Leo's verdict - Uroko has become a favourite destination for me and my family to eat fine Japanese food. It ticks all the right boxes - fresh ingredients, comfortable settings and close to home.More

I went to the restaurant yesterday afternoon. We tried the RM150 omakase set. One of the course is assorted sashimi, one of the red fish tasted as if the gut juice has spilled on the meat. I did not smell it at first but the...after taste was bitter and fishy, same goes to my partner’s set for the same fish. The other course of the omakase was okay. I understand for RM 150 it is cheap for an omakase set, but I have not experienced this even in affordable Japanese restaurants. My partner feel sick for the entire day after having the fish.More
