Not Disappointed!

As the name suggests, they specialize in Chicken Rice, and they do it well! Although there are other dishes available we settled down for Ipoh Chicken Rice and it did not disappoint. There is not much else to say, the Chicken Rice was good. I will come back!

Good food!

Been coming here for many years when I was living in PJ. The food quality is still good, fast service and clean. Quite a busy restaurant especially during rush lunch hour. Pricing is a bit more premium compared to other places. Parking can be cumbersome at times...

Quite good

I drop by this restaurant by after my appointment in the hospital nearby. I used to go there when I was young. The food quality is just average. Ordered their curry shredded chicken noodles with pork ball. The taste is average. The curry is quite good. There are just a few small pieces of chicken. I added the ginger sauce to enhance the taste. It was nice.

Food is great but service serious sucks

The food is great but the service is like s****. I ask for the waiter for 10 straight minutes and he just ignore me, when I call him still no answer. These guys seriously deserve a Oscar for the worst service in PJ

Good chicken rice

If you are looking for a sure shot chicken rice place this is the once. Forget the hawkers, they look awfully unhygienic to leave meat and knife that way anyway. This place is clean and provides good hygienic values Most of the times they are extremely busy with no to limited car parking

Lovely Wan Than Mee

Had lunch at this 1977 Ipoh Chicken Rice last weekend and enjoyed a plate of wonderful wan than mee with all the works - char siew, siew yuk and wan than. The noodle is nice and springy, char siew is nicely bbq, sweet and juicy while the siew yuk is also pretty good with crispy skin. This dish cost RM 10.90 and I think is a fair value that it is an airconditioned place and you're getting a good size portion of food with it

Tasty Chcilen rice and pricy

Chicken is nice, bean sprouts is nice. Char siew sauce is sweet and spicy. Spacious and can accommodate a lot of people.. But will be full during peak hour.. Drinks are good as well. Just that it is quite pricy.

Ipoh chicken rice

My favorite place to visit any time I am here. The chicken rice Wanton noodles beans sprouts Barbecue and roasted pork dishes are fabulous. Bit pricy but worth it. They have opened an upstairs dining area on my recent visit inJuly but I still prefer the outside seating. I must say that the service and food was not as good as my previous visits.

Authentic Ipoh Chicken Rice

Very similar to original Ipoh chicken rice. Standard service and decor, but the chilli sauce is tasty

As a chicken rice connoisseur, 1977 ipoh chicken rice was only average, nothing to write home about. Rice was so so, not fluffy and oily enough. Chicken was ok but could be more tender and the soya sauce lacks any oopmh (i'm not referring to msg). Overall there are better chicken rice stalls out there...

Not bad .....

I'm from Ipoh and staying in KL for more than 20 years but this was the first time i stumbled upon this restaurant on my way back to home.... The outlook looks big.. that's why it caught my eyes... 1977.. pretty long huh. Well.. it has plenty choices.. not chicken rice only... it has noodles too.. I ordered a set of chicken rice with char siu since their roast pork was finished... as claimed. Nevertheless, it was delicious.. thumbs up... I saw plenty customer come in groups or family... but the price tag is a bit pricey.. as long as it taste good.. worth paying it. Happy eating...

Sumptious Dinner

We had our family dinner in this restaurant after swimming outing at the PJ Pool. We have both the steam and roasted chicken, bean sprout, brocoli mushroom, fried roasted pork, lotus root soup, buttermilk fish and fried fish cake. Good food and asumptious dinner it was. I have ate in this restaurant since my university days back in 1971.

Very yummy food, but poor service

Very crowded during peak hours. Food was good though. Tried their Curry Laksa, Wantan Mee, Pork rice in a bento set and fried Bean sprouts. Yummy and affordable food. Service was poor with delayed orders, wrong sizes and delayed presentation of food (needed several re-checkings with waiters). Would recommend to visit during non-peak hours :)

Still going strong

This restaurant has been around for awhile and still going strong. It is a good place for a quick meal of rice, chicken, bean sprouts and soup. Service is fast and you eat in cool air-conditioned comfort. Price still reasonable.
