Food selection has changed a little over the years. The oysters used to be better quality ie: size and freshness. Overall the raw food spread is still decently good and a chef behind the counter to prepare handrolls fresh. Soft shell crab and tempura is lacking in texture and taste. Good thing is the tempura sauce has radish condiment next to it, used to be one would have to ask the staff for it. Teppanyaki has something new which is the Japanese curry style sauce that goes well with the beef. Additionally the management was kind enough to grant our special of the menu request which made our dining experience much better than expected. The lighting is a little dim though, could be brighter.

We had a Special Bento set and as usual this restaurant served quality dishes; with attentive service particularly by Mukhriz. he was alert to our requests and was prompt.
Been visiting Genji for many years. Will continue to visit this place in future.

We ordered 2 servings of salmon sashimi, ebi n mixed tempura, hot tempura udon soup, grilled beef and cold soba.
Salmon was excellent, fresh thick cut and tasty. Tempuras and soba were equally good. Service was excellent.
The pricing on the high side, ie about Rm600 for 2 pax.

Great selection and prompt service. We ordered almost all items on the menu. Buffet was able service which is better as you just wait for the servers to arrive instead of you walking back and forth.
In-house guests get 30% off if you sign bill to the room and pay upon check-out.

Quiet semi traditional setting with very zen ambience and away from the thoroughfare of crowds. Staff are very attentive and well trained. Price is steep for the buffet but very fresh and nice. Go for the fresh oysters, sashimi, sushi, miso soup (well-dome), unagi, beef teppanyaki and cod fish soup. Whats missing is free flow ocha. Cant eat so much. But mochi is nice, love the red bean dessert too. Overall had an enjoyable dinner buffet here.

Was here for dinner with family.
Food is made with really high quality ingredients.
And the staff are attentive and have very good attention to care. Thank you Mell, Faris, Wada and Chef Shafiq for the great dinner

Genji Japanese Restaurant is an excellent dining spot that serves the most delicious Japanese food in PJ, Malaysia. The restaurant boasts a cozy and authentic ambiance with stylish decor and a calm atmosphere perfect for a relaxing meal. The staff here are friendly, polite and always willing to help, which makes the dining experience at Genji a pleasant one.

Visited this restaurant with some friends and family recently and it is just as excellent as it was before. My favourite Japanese buffet in Malaysia. I used to come here regularly, always having to book in advance because of the long wait to get a space. So happy that they’re back with the restrictions now lifted.
Just like before, the food is fresh and delicious with a variety of sashimi to hot food options and desserts, great service, and good implementation of hygienic practices. We received friendly, attentive and very thoughtful service from Haizir and Mell in a private room that was located near the sashimi / sushi bar. Gets my highest recommendation!

I ordered the Teppanyaki Salmon and the restaurant very graciously allowed me to customize my vegetables and fried rice. The food was yum and service was attentive. Thanks for the great experience for my first dine after the government relaxed the SOPs. I also observed the employees sanitizing tables after other guests left which was very assuring.

Had buffet dinner for couple of times and so far this is still the place that I had the BEST raw oyster! This is the place to go if you want to have buffet that focus on quality rather than quantity. The range is not too extensive but yet the food are all fresh and served to please the taste buds! Will definitely recommend friends and family when there's chance.

My first meal after the mandatory government quarantine in hilton pj. Couldn't have chosen a better meal. Soft smokey unagi with gelatinous and cripy skin paired well with the traditional sweet sauce on rice. Yums. And I really liked that they automatically gave a fresh bottle of sansho without having me to ask for it.

Came here for Mother’s Day and had such a lovely celebration with the family. Good food and great service particularly from Mel, Suhaidy, and Wada! Thanks to the chef who also had a sushi making session with the kids!

There are very few value for money Japanese buffet in K Lumpur. Genji is the rare few now that Sagano has closed .
The spread is good. The staff friendly. The captain Suhaidy is very good and takes on board food suggestions and feedback. The other staff is equally good .
The ambiance is cheerful and sunlight streams in to give a good atmosphere . Coffee rounds up a good meal for me.

Me and my fiance were looking to hold a wedding dinner event Genji Restaurant and was very pleased with Ms Mei Yi and Mr Suhaidy's quick reponses to our inquiries. The dark wood elements incorporated into their Japanese interior give Genji give a traditional feel and warm ambience. Their small seating capacity and buffet package makes it an ideal place for a intimate wedding setting.

We have been eating at Genji Restaurant since a couple years back and the tradition is still going on. The quality of food is extraordinary, and the staffs service& standard is high. We enjoy our time here and definitely will be coming back in the future. Thanks!!!
