Nowhere offer dishes like Mum's Place Their menu comprises a blend of Malay, Portuguese, Chinese and a smattering of nyonya and Indian dishes which makes them a favourite among diners since 2001. But 20 years on, they have decided to call it a day as...the Covid-19 worsened and doing business in Malaysia is very tough. So this post is dedicated to the couple who have been serving delicious and homey food to the Malaysians for 2 decades. Please visit them and try their dishes before they are gone for good. ◾Otak-otak cubes served with Thai sauce - a good snack while waiting other dishes to be served. ◾Assam pedas Parit Jawa Jenahak - spicy, sourish and appetising dish made popular by Maharani town of Johor ◾Sambal Sotong with Petai - who doesn't love petai? ◾Lemak kuning pedas sotong - love the coconut milk that doesn't made me jelak. Squid was cooked just right. ◾ Portuguese "Devil" Curry chicken - might be spicy for some but to me it was OK. ◾Chicken Pong Teh with sauce, potatoes, black mushroom - classic nyonya dish that I will order everytime I see one in the menu. ◾Bitter gourd with prawns & chicken ◾Kampung style fried rice with telur mata kerbau P.S: They are closing down at the end of 2021 so do visit them before they migrate to Australia.More

This popular establishment at Kota Damansara serves well-executed Nyonya and Malay dishes albeit at a slight premium. Photos of VIPs and celebrities who had patronised the restaurant are hung on the walls. Serves excellent cendol as dessert.

This restaurant serves Malay food and is is in many varieties. But the most important thing is that the food is spicy to very spicy but avsolutely delicious. I would love to come back here again.

The Nonya environment was cozy. Staff was very friendly & efficient. Did not take long for the dishes & they were delicious. The cost of the meal was most affordable.... will definitely visit again.......

For the full unabridged review with much clearer breakdown, please refer to hungryfizzio (at) blogspot Food – 3/5, not an expert in nyonyan cuisine, but definitely did not appear groundbreaking in the least, and was average most of the time, as expected of anyone familiar...with Asian cuisines. If I had a second bite of the beef rendang maybe this score might be higher. Service – 3/5, unremarkable in the least, but nothing bad to say either. Ambiance – 3/5, funny signs helped it avoid a 2, but does not accentuate the meal in any material way Price – 1/5 – to think, the final bill for this place came to the same as the supremely tasty Copper House I had for lunch, blasphemy. There were the same number of eaters, and this meal pales in comparison. The review of the copper house can be found here, but it was superior in every single way to this. TL:DR – extremely average meal with disappointing serving sizes if not ordered strategically, the chilli salsa is definitely not for normal human consumption, and the prices are very high, leading to lower value overall for your meal. If you absolutely must get your nyonyan itch sated, eat here, but if you are looking just to explore, other places will offer greater value.More

Good food with great service. A must visit to try authentic local Malaysian food ala Peranakan / Nonya style. For me, every dish is worth trying, and the price is reasonable. I visit quite frequently with family & friends.

My childhood friend took me to Mum's Place which is his favourite restaurant. The culinary delights didn't disappoint. The devil's curry and the brinjal were very good. The prices were reasonable and the waiters were attentive. Very enjoyable lunch with great company.
