I’m torn as to whether to rate this place 3 or 4 stars. It’s very popular and you will need to book, which we did. It has a great location by the ocean and a quirky theme (tug boat). We had a very good beef...More

We had 1 wonderful calamari, a whole grilled fish, a traditional dish of beaf and two glasses of wine for 600$. They offered the deserts to apologise for keeping us waiting. The chef came at the end of the dinner to get our impression and...More

I'm probably going to be the odd man out on this but I wouldn't go back there on a dare. We had a reservation for 7:15. Table not ready. Please wait in the (crowded, small, noisy) bar. 7:30. Checked. Table still not ready. 7:45. Table...More

Walked in here on a cold rainy day with almost no expectations. Walked out with a warm feeling. Make no mistake - this isn’t for vegetarians but the crew are so good and hospitable they went out of the way to serve us nice salad...More

Set in a most unusual place, an old tug boat run aground, it was a really pleasant night out. But, we had 4 power cuts before starters!! I think this is unusual though for Swakupmund. Did it detract? Not a bit, phones galore soon provided...More

The setting in part of an old tug is unusual and a pleasant experience. The staff are of the usual high standard one has come to expect in Namibia. The food is excellent and the atmosphere relaxing. A very enjoyable evening.

This is a great restaurant! Because it is known for its seafood, we decided to go for the Tug Seafood Extravaganza: a plate for two persons with seafood and fish. Delicious! To fill the last little gaps in our stomach we tried out their homemade...More

Casual smart was the order of the day when I had dinner there. I wore a smart shirt, no tie and felt a bit over dressed.

Starting out as a small beachfront restaurant on the edge of the wild and mystical Atlantic Ocean, with splendid views onto the iconic Swakopmund jetty, The Tug's popularity has grown as time moved on. Dining areas inside and on the outside deck terrace have been extended considerably, while the restaurant has become a culinary destination for travelers from around the globe. The Tug restaurant offers authentically prepared cocktails, a selection of more than 140 of the finest South African wines, French champagne. Special delights from the wild Namibian ocean include kingklip, kabeljou, lobsters, angel fish and sole, John Dory, local oysters, fresh green Swakopmund asparagus.
