The food itself was ok and is well priced The service is terrible, we waited for around 1 hour to be seated. When we were finally seated we were sat down next to a table of people who were smoking, we asked to move table but they would not accommodate it. I think if you go at a time that... More

We went around and eat at many other places,Wai Po Jia was our last dinner in Hangzhou. We should have had dinner here EVERY NIGHT! The food was great, authentic, inexpensive and good varieties. Portion is very big, best come in group of 4 to 6 so you can try many dishes. 2 person usually can't order too many types of... More

We had been to another waipojia restaurant some two years previously and so on returning to Hangzhou we made this our first meal. We weren't disappointed. The menu is quirky in its magazine style and contains a huge variety of choices at extremely reasonable prices given the classy surroundings. The reason for four rather than five stars is that the... Nice decoration, decent Shanghai food, sophisticated plat layout, nice experience! It is located in the suburb of Hangzhou next to Xixi, but worth to go even just for the food!

I went in December and didn't have to wait for long for dinner. The food is decent (good i would say) and yet affordable given that it is a restaurant with good ambience. I have attached the menu to show the price and the food I have tried. There are hits and misses. One regret is that almost every table... More

Grandma's House has something for everyone. Not only does it have a huge selection of food and drinks, but it's also quite affordable. This is a Hangzhou favorite! My favorites are the claypot-cooked tea chicken (which is so soft it just falls apart), the green tea cakes filled with white-bean adzuki, the golden fried pumpkin and chicken, and the stuffed lotus... I went to this restaurant upon the advice of an acquiantance during my trip in Hangzhou. There was a long queue and we have waited for more than 30 minutes for our turn. The food was cheap and interesting.

We decided to go here for dinner after lunch at Jinsha (which was fabulous, btw!) and everything that we ordered here at Grandma's house was so so satisfying. We all agreed that of all restaurants that we've been to in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Suzhou, (including Fu 1039) we like this one the most!

If you do not wish to spend too much money at the pricey local restaurants, this is the best alternative.
