Inoda is a Kyoto institution and serves what can only be described as old school coffee. That being said, if you go for a drip coffee with high quality beans you will get a decent cup (and like us can have it with some great cakes). The waiters here are very formal, which adds to the atmosphere, but perhaps the... More

You will pay more to eat here or have coffee, by virtue of location. 680 yen for a glass of fizzy lemonade (and the glass was half-full). On the other hand, the food is quite good. A large selection of tasty sandwiches served on te Japanese equivalent of Wonder Bread. I recommend the egg salad. If you want something sweet... More

We had a little break with a refreshing orange and grapefruit juice beside a very tasty piece of cake.. Nice time in a colonial style place..

We stopped to get some caffeine. It was quite busy. Disappointment was that the espresso we ordered tasted like ordinary black coffee. Inoda is a chain in Kyoto and I had expected better.

Every once in a while you are wow'd by a casual stop for breakfast. Inoda is such a place. We were on our way to the Nishiki market and pulled into Inoda for breakfast. Not only was the food scrumptious but the coffee was killer. This is what they are known for. I had the Arabian and now a big... More

In usual, I enjoy Americano, and the taste of this shop is deep and excellent. The outside seats are good with modest and cozy scenery.

Big windows and nice garden in the back. Excellent location. Easy to find. I ordered a French toast and coffee. French toast was fluffy and Arabian Pearl coffee was good and strong body. The problem is the smoking session. It is literally next to the non smoking session. Not sure if that selection did any good.

A great view and traditional 1950's style coffee service with full class, and of course, the mandatory accompanying gentleman smokers. I was deeply breathing in the tranquil view when a gentleman sat next to me and proceeded to go through 5 big smokes in a row. Quiet an accomplishment, I think! When #5 was being lit, I quickly downed my... More

Such a beautiful place, Inoda Coffee really fits into the Kiyomizu Temple surrondings. Traditional and cozy, we went in after a walk in Kiyomizu Temple area, during the winter it's quite windy and cold up there, Inoda Coffee's breakfast set was exactly what we needed. Coffee was aromatic and smooth, the sandwiches were delicious and the traditional garden view was... More
