Absolutely sumptuous bowl of ramen, with the best pork I have ever had in a bowl of ramen. Always a line around lunch, but it moves fairly fast, and the noodles and excellent, the broth is excellent, the aforementioned pork is aforementioned excellent. Small little place and you definitely feel like you should not linger when it is busy, but... More

Line moves quickly so don't be deterred! Soup was great and we could order in line so our order was ready when we got inside. Must try. Get the gyoza.

We came around 1PM and the line as pretty long, being a relatively cold day it felt colder than usual. We stayed in the line because there was a line and that usually says something. We got within 45 minutes we had that regular bowl and gyoza. After slurping the ramen away we were definitely satisfied with what we ate.

This shop is well known ramen shop close to Kyoto station. Only 5 mins away from the station. Dai-Ichi Asahi, is the name of the shop. Shin Fuku Saikan is next to the shop. I love Dai-Ichi Anahi. Always ordering "more negi" woooo I really wanted to go to Kyoto right away for enjoying a bowl of Ramen now! The... More

Super tasty noodles with onions and generous high quality sliced pork pieces. Found it by investigating long line down the street near main train station. Well priced. Filling meal for 2 sharing a large beer was 2,300 yen. Highly recommended.

Despite what it says on the menu, they do NOT have vegetarian ramen. Their "vegetarian ramen" is just their regular ramen, noodles served without the pork slices, but still in pork broth!! My boyfriend who isn't vegetarian really liked his ramen and rated it 8.5/10. Be prepared to queue outside as it is pretty pretty popular, but the wait isn't... More

Most amount of pork I've had in a bowl of ramen. Long queues so go early. Order a plate of gyozas to go with the ramen! As for the broth, I still prefer the tonkotsu ramen broth to this.

I need to use 100 words for this review but one word best describes the ramen here: PHENOMENAL! The line was long to get in a very small restaurant but it took only 25 minutes. There was no pressure to leave either. Highly recommended.

Hubby and I loved this place that we went here 2 nights in a row for dinner. Ramen flavor wise I would give it 5 star. I just hope they would not allow customer to smoke inside their small eating area. Too suffocating especially if you are not used to smelling smoke in an enclosed place

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
