I agree with the previous reviewer that the soup tastes more Chinese than Japanese. It tastes like basic pork bone broth with very little 'secret ingredients', like I could easily make it at home. The chashu (pork) is nothing to write home about either, merely mediocre. There was a long line in front at about 6:30 pm, I'm not sure... More

Be prepared to queue at least 30 mins to savour this bowl of Ramen. Though the shop is only closed 3 hours each day (witih long opening hours from 5 am to 2 am), there is always a long crowd outside the shop. Went on Sat before 10 am and need to wait 30 mins in queue. Ordered special ramen... More

Yum ++, fast & good value. Friendly service, tried 4 different types and gyoza. Everyone in the family was very happy with the noodles.

Arrived at Sunday 825am and waited for half an hour before going in. Place was pretty small but service was fast, free flow of water. Need not order the special bowl as the normal portion is already very huge. Great and tasty meal.

Just arrived from the shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto, we waited in line for almost 45min. It was all worth it. After a long 3 hour trip you need a bowl of ramen. Comfort food at it's best. Price is low but the taste is so rich and staff is super friendly and fast working. If you ever stay in... More

Love their noodle soup! Very rich in flavor. Big servings of noodles and roast pork. One of the best gyozas I've ever tasted! The crunchy part is to die for!

Absolutely sumptuous bowl of ramen, with the best pork I have ever had in a bowl of ramen. Always a line around lunch, but it moves fairly fast, and the noodles and excellent, the broth is excellent, the aforementioned pork is aforementioned excellent. Small little place and you definitely feel like you should not linger when it is busy, but... More

Line moves quickly so don't be deterred! Soup was great and we could order in line so our order was ready when we got inside. Must try. Get the gyoza.

We came around 1PM and the line as pretty long, being a relatively cold day it felt colder than usual. We stayed in the line because there was a line and that usually says something. We got within 45 minutes we had that regular bowl and gyoza. After slurping the ramen away we were definitely satisfied with what we ate.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
