This is a lovely restaurant offering top drawer food and wine in an intimate, reductive environment that promotes a sense of calm in the bustling Gion district. We ordered from the a la carte menu and enjoyed bean and black cabbage soup, guinea fowl for two, which featured a generous portion of freshly shaved white truffle at time of service,... More

We stumble across this place looking for a break from Japanese food. It wasn't your average pasta joint. Amazing, high end Italian cooking, with incredible service. Very small, probably only seats around 12 people but have a look if you are in Kyoto.

Found this place because our usual was full and had a delicious meal, a bit expensive but good value. Tiny restaurant with just one chef and one waiter, so obviously not fast food. Delicious vitello tonnato, lamb pasta and bean soup were just 3 courses off the set menu. We did not go home hungry! Only 3 tables so best... More

At first we thought it was rather expensive and pretentious and we were concerned when we saw the size of appetiser however we had a beautiful dinner prepared faultlessly by the chef/owner. Delicious food but overall ambience of the small dining space lacked any Italian style.

A small restaurant serving Italian meals cooked by owner chef. Order set menu A. Tasty food with fresh produce. Good service.

There are only thtee tables in the restaurant. Staff seems to be working not for long in restaurant business especially when dealing with English speaking customers. The food was ok, though one couldnt see italian touch in it. Terrible wine and too long wine list with no recomendation.

Went there twice for dinner. Enjoyed quality of food and the very welcoming host and owner. It's a small place, but just around the corner from busy Shijo Dori. Thank you again from the family from Berlin :-) !

Found this small Italian restaurant on TripAdvisor. Visited vith my wife and two sons. It has only 12 seats, but then again we got excellent service. The chef and the waiter welcomed us. The menu is short, but it is something for both pasta, fish and meat lovers. The price was very low, compared with food quality, which was "oishikatta",... More

Lovely small Italian , every meal we got was fresh and well prepared. Chef " Tato" and staff are kind and professional. If you are in Kyoto don't miss it.

Staying in Gion

Neighbourhood Profile
Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko" in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners, Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the streets on their way to and from work, where they fan dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion lights up at night, when the ancient-looking streets glow with lanterns along the river, where weeping willows catch the starlight and the air is warmed with conversation. Groups pass through to populate the restaurants and bars along the riverfront, but Gion still manages to be a mostly quiet district, due in large part to limited automotive traffic through many of its streets. Gion is a wonderful place to indulge in Kyoto's local and customary cuisines, and is best enjoyed after dark.
