Enjoyed our meal immensely. The food is consistently good. We ordered braised beancurd and a veggie stir fry with lotus root, Lily bulbs, celery, roasted almond slices. It was a simple meal and I was so satisfied.

Our foodie group of four rounded off our 2N/3D trip to KL with reservations at Overseas Restaurant on the night before departing for home. Our KL friend helped with the reservations and pre-ordered the following three items: 1. Live Patin fish around 800gms 2. Platter...of char siew and roast pork. 3. Half a roasted Irish duck. On arrival,we added the soup of the day to our pre-orders. The soup came first. The standard soup pot is good enough for 10pax. Can hardly detect trace of artificial seasoning in the soup. The star has to be the Pating fish, especially when it is live and not the farmed version. Difficult to do on your own. Perfect timing and the seasoning. The char siew and roast pork were the best in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Can skip the Irish duck on our next visit. Have not visited the restaurant since 2019. The standard of food and service have improved and certainly the prices have gone up. No surprise l maintain the restaurant has to be among the top three in KLMore

I went to the 1 Utama branch, highly recommended for their food and service. We ordered a few dishes and all of them tasted really good. The service was excellent from all staff especially Thomas. Before I can start the process of dishing the noodle...into individual portions, Thomas took over, brought the noodle aside and served us. We felt very welcome by the staff. Highly recommended to try their food if you are in 1 Utama.More

It was my first time at Oversea Rest, becos of a recommendation by my friend. The quality of food was excellent, and so was the service. In fact, we (there were 10 of us) pre-reserved half a chicken, medium char siew and medium roast pork....They all turned out so yummy. The steamed pomfret in Teochew style was lovely too. And the to-fu, omg....was sooo silky soft and tasty. I will return to this restaurant again should I visit KL again.More

We went for dinner and a bad experience with the captain who recommended us some steam chicken. He also suggested we take half chicken since there was only 4 of us. The chicken was just so so and we were charged RM150 for it! The...captain did not inform us earlier that the chicken is extraordinarily more expensive. Felt so cheated and unhappy with such dishonesty.More

This restaurant mainly caters to Singaporeans with sin dls to spend. So for them is reasonable but honestly food is super expensive and over rated If you don't order expensive dishes the waitress will give u a dirty look. They hire mainly rude old uncles...and aunties who thinks you are an inconvenience . Place is congested loud and awful at all times Even with new renovation soft wear is the same. Neither have class not comfort. Famous for causing traffic jams. Car valet is rude Not recommended!!!More

Overseas restaurant is famous for their char siew. I had been here 10 years ago, it's still as good. Even their crispy pork belly was also very good. The skin was crackling and the meat was flavourful. We also ordered the steamed Soon Hock in...soy sauce. The fish was very fresh and the doneness was just right so the flesh was tender and juicy. The claypot vermicelli with hairy guord was equally good. I could taste the "wok hei" and the seasoning was just right. 6 dishes for 7 of us costed only about RM580 which we found very reasonably priced. Will return again next time.More

Heard n read about this restaurant. It was refurbished in 2022. Every dish is goood. Ordered their popular char siew. V good but I personally find a tad too sweet. The char siew actually stuck to the plate cos of the sweet marinade but it’s...v delicious n tender. Ordered the Har Lok prawns. V good too, sweet n yummy. Other dishes we ordered included fried noodle, soup, stir fry lily bulb with lotus, venison, a sweet n tangy chicken which was v good n their desserts. For desserts, almond pudding (hot) n a chinese pancake were good. Overall very satisfied with the meal n the price is good too. So many dishes with desserts cost us 345MYR. V reasonableMore

This a review of Oversea Imbi. We came for dinner without reservation but they kindly accommodated us as we were early on a Saturday evening and gave us a room. That was nice! You have to order their soup-of-the-day. They change daily and it is...always double-boiled. Just get a pot and it serves at least ten pax (so the three of us had lots and lots of servings). Very rich. You also should order their famous char Siew. Costly but consistently excellent. Dripping with honey. Roasted to perfection. Try dipping in their chilli sauce (my - not the restaurant’s - recommendation) - superb! We had three other dishes which were good homely stuff. I’d imagine the others to be good too. It was so good that we’ve decided to return there for lunch tomorrow after we Check out….More

A local friend recommended this place to us. Oversea Restaurant has been a local establishment in Kuala Lumpur for decades. It is also a more upscale option for Cantonese cuisine. Food in general is solid. The signature char siu is sweet and rich in flavor....Fish is nice and tender but pricey. Service is unremarkable. Price is on the upper end in local standard. Reservation is a must as the place is already full by six.More

Recommended to this restaurant by a friend. I understand that the famous dish here was the char siew. My friend literally had to call in to reserve that piece of char siew beforehand. As for the rest of the dishes, they were good. Just that...I found it rather expensive by local standard. Inside of the restaurant was very typical of an old school Chinese restaurant which was pretty nostalgic.More

Chinese restaurants are known for poor service and this meets that low standard. However, once the food arrives we were in heaven! Tried 3 dishes all were “best of” in their category. Definitely excellent meal, and we WILL be back!

The foods are superb. Very delicious and not costly as you may perceived. The staffs and chef are chinese local elderly. I have a feel of old Chinese restaurant when I went in, those old Chinese restaurant feel 20-30 years ago. It is definitely highly...recommended compared to those recent Chinese restaurant chain like Orien*** group which cost you a bomb, much smaller portion and taste not as good or maybe juz on par... I had went to the other overseas branch in Subang parade n Jaya one which is bit modern type but is great to see this first overseas restaurant in Imbi still preserve the values of authentic Chinese restaurant.More

I would say that baby and kids are welcome. But this place quite packed during lunch and dinner time. So it may not be convenient for baby and kids. Priced on the high side.
