About
Luk Yu Tea House unveils an exciting transformation that includes a reinvigorated menu to complement the stylish Chinoiserie-inspired interiors. The tea house was inspired by the Tang Dynasty poet Lu Yu who wrote The Classic of Tea which describes the history and culture of Chinese tea. Luk Yu Tea House pays homage to this respected Chinese tea master and writer by serving a laudable selection of fine teas from Taiwan and China that make for the perfect pairing with your meal. The dining experience at the tea house will take on a new dimension with its redefined menu of comforting Chinese cuisine that transcends provinces. Diners can expect authentic eats in the form of Hong Kong dim sum and a treasury of Chinese soul food with a curation of all-time favourite classic Cantonese dishes and Chiu Chow specialities from the famous Pak Lok Chiu Chow restaurant.

Had a late lunch, and it is worth the try. Highly recommended by a cousin, so it is definitely a hit with us, especially my daughter. Our favourite is definitely the Seafood Fried Rice with Salted Egg Yolk and Har Gouw. Drinks price needs to be reduced. RM20 for soft drinks is no justice. Even for a bottle of Acqua Panna is a killer for the price. Service was on point and ambience is great with the dim lighting set up.

irst off, the restaurant is really lucky to have hired a chinese lady (aunty in her 40s, short hair). I arrived at 11 45am on a Saturday. She’s alone working her ass off serving a crowd of roughly 15pax. We waited patiently fr her to take our order as we know its impossible for her to take orders and serve so many ppl at the same time. Not many dimsum choices, dont come if u aim for dimsum only. Pork free though. I ordered chicken dumplings, fried beans and fish head noodle. Dumplings were ok. Fried beans were slightly too salty. Fish head noodle was bland. Fish wasn’t fresh. Ambience wise, its nice and cosy. Cutleries seemed clean. However, the table we’re using was badly stained (as seen in pic).

We enjoyed the food and service so much at Luk Yu we went back two times. Mary runs an excellent restaurant. Mary explained the menu and ensured quick and efficient service. We enjoyed the dim sum and flat noodles with beef. Luk Yu is located in the lower level of the JW Marriott, and it is a calming respite from the hustle and bustle outside the hotel. Highly recommended.

FYI; Went there on Sept 4, 2020 and it was closed due to renovations of the Starhill Galery. A retail assistant at a boutique on the upper floor said they would probably only open again in December.

Bad Experience this time, I had a great experience a year or two back in this place. The Ginger Soup / Tea was really really bad me and my friend only had a sip but could not go any further. Tasted like packaged chemical ginger soup. The Yao Chao quay that came with the porridge was horribly flat and feels like its been cooked for days and left there. The Xiao long bao was fine but the ginger and sauce that came with it tasted like crappppp. The Durian Pancake was way too soft. Bad. Bill came to RM 110. What a waste of food.

I was really happy with superb Chinese food prepared by skillful chefs in this traditional restaurant. I was cordially greeted on arrival. The table I was assigned to gave me opportunity to watch chefs preparing food. I enjoyed all the dishes I took. The price is fair and affordable.

I enjoyed my dim sum lunch at Luk Yu Tea House. From most tables, you have a good view of the open kitchen. Excellent and fresh flavors make the dishes very tasty. Staff is very helpful and service-oriented. Well worth a visit for a good, quick and friendly priced lunch.

This is my favourite Chinese restaurant in KL. A good dim sum selection that is always delicious. The Cantonese dishes are light and delicate. Everything is cooked with a light touch that allows the flavour of the ingredients to delight the taste buds. Decor is traditional but not garish or heavy handed. Staff are attentive but unobtrusive.

Expected a top notch dim sum at this high end mall. Very disappointed with the food. Taste is blend for most of the dishes, service is poor (unlike those in typical 5 stars restaurants) and manager does not seem to know how to handle (poor) review and feedback on the spot. She claimed that main chef is on leave and acknowledged that other diners also feedback on the lower food standard. If you die die craving for dim sum and really need to dine here, do ensure the main chef is on duty. And don’t order (neighbourhood bakery standard) egg tarts.

We enjoyed our dim sum lunch at Luk Yu Tea House. Most of the dishes we ordered were good. Service was very good and food served quickly once you ordered. Food standards has been consistent for the last few years. Keep it up! It was also value for money as it was not only yummy but the price was reasonable. The reason I have given an excellent rating.

It is allways a risk to return to a restaurant you have liked before to see if it is still fine. Already 14 years ago the basement of Starhill Gallery wss turned into a special area offering Middle East and Asian cuisines in fantastical surroundings. The elaborate metal grille walls combined with classical Chinese furniture have stood to time well unalthered, unfortunately the food was a dissappointment. Though lunch time was already ending it took 15 minutes to prepare the nondescript noodle dish with some hidden shreds of crab.
